We only had diner here (booked by travelagent) and it was really good !
This hotel has a beatiful garden and swimming pool and the restaurant with its terrace is also very nice. Might nog be cheap but you get defenitly value for money.

Lovely grounds, nice sized suites and great staff make the 137 Pillars House a retreat from the bustling city of Chiangmai. We stayed here for 8 days and, each day we either went on a tour or walked into the city for the day. When we returned, it was like coming home to an oasis of calm. Fantastic. Also, loved the pool area...very serene. However, we went into the city for much less expensive massages (we went to the Green Bamboo, which cost a fraction of the spa cost at the hotel). Also, we ate out most of the time, as there are several less expensive and good quality restaurants nearby.

Room Tip: second floor in the center of the grounds gave an expansive view of the property.

What a wonderful hotel. A remnant of old Colonial days which has been beautifully refurbished. Superb suites, very comfortable. Excellent restaurant. Superb service. Lovely sitting rooms and dining rooms. Cannot be faulted. Worth the trip to Chiang Mai just to stay in this wonderful hotel.

Room Tip: Probably better to have a first floor suite rather than a ground floor one to have a little more privacy when sitting out on your balcony.

My husband booked us a short stay here, I don't know what he paid so can't comment on value but it was beautiful. Every last detail was of the highest spec. The staff were very friendly abs really helpful when we asked advice on restaurants taxis sight seeing and tours.
They booked tours for us which were fantastic.
The restaurant in the hotel was lovely. The food at breakfast was fantastic lots of choice and the night we stayed in the hotel for dinner it was fabulous. We had a 9 course tasting menu which was slightly spoilt by adding a steak to the end of what was otherwise a fantastic seafood menu. The steak was cooked to perfection but covered in pepper sauce and not necessary after the delicious seafood.
I would have liked to see a more traditional Thai tasting menu, the 9 course tasting was more European fusion. But very good none the less
Around the pool the staff were helpful bringing drinks and offering massage
The hotel is a convenient walk to local riverside restaurants and a very quick tuktuk to the old town. We walked there in the morning it didn't take long but would have been to hot to walk back back in the afternoon.

We stayed at the 137 Pillar House over New Year 2013 and had a great time staying there. All in all this place is surely one of the best or even the best place to stay in Chiang Mai, excellent service and stunning rooms... and I mean stunning! .One of the most beautiful rooms I stayed in Thailand.. and I would give them a sixth star if I could.

I would wish more variety at the breakfast menu, but this wont influence my five star rating, but even at this high standard there is room for improvement.

The location is very quite and close the the center and if you can afford it, it is definitively
a gorgeous place to relax in northern Thailand. Highly recommended.
