“Good, clean, cheap accommodation”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

We arrived very early in the morning, after an overnight bus from Bangkok, and some difficulty finding Goodwill Guesthouse, party because our taxi driver decided to abandon us when he realised he had no idea where the place was!

We got there eventually, after finding the small lane leading to the house, but then struggled to find someone to check us in as it was only 6.30am. A girl eventually appeared and went to find someone, and we were shown to our room. Not a great start, especially since we'd made them aware of our early arrival, but the host of the guesthouse didn't speak English so we couldn't really grumble.

Our room was fine, spacious and clean, with en-suite and free wifi (no air con but there was a ceiling fan) - you couldn't ask for much more for only GBP 5 per night!! Very good value for money.

Good location (once you know where it is!) close to Iron Bridge and walking distance to the old town, night market and bars/restaurants.

Clean rooms, hot water and very helpful staff despite our lack of Thai. Cheap laundry and everything ironned too. Wi-Fi worked well in room, no problems. Boiled water for us so we could make hot drinks. Only negative was that they did not offer breakfast.
Good value for money Italian restaurant (Dukes), large portions and very tasty, only a short walk away.

I have spent five weeks in this guesthouse and will return next week for another three weeks. The guesthouse is located very close to the iron bridge and Rimping supermarket and a local market. Night basar and the old city are in walking distance. The house is in a side street, so the traffic of the main road cannot be heard. The rooms are basic but comfortable and clean. WiFi (free) quality is good everywhere. There is a very nice roof terrace where everybody can cook with provided kitchen utilities, a fridge and free drinking water. The roof is the place to socialize. Thai lady Mae, who is running the hostel is very kind and helpful (she speaks only little English). A laundry service is available, or one can use the washing machine for a small fee. A few long term guests are living here most time of the year, others are returning now and again. One room for a night costs currently BHT 250.-. The rooms have double or twin beds, a big fan and a bathroom. There are also a small desk with combined mirror and a chair and a cupboard in each room. On the roof there is also a low budget dormitory. The guesthouse is good for all people who like a quiet and calm stay, are on a small budget and appreciate basic but practical accommodation.
