This hotel looks nice at first glance with its pool and spa, but the corrupt staff running the place are lining their pockets by constantly changing prices upwards when they see a foreigner they can fleece. The main culprit is the skinny guy at the front desk wearing braces. He will change prices on you if he thinks he can pocket the difference. There is a reason they don't have any prices displayed anywhere.

Avoid this place. There are so many other great hotels in the area.

Lanna boutique hotel

Situated in a very quiet and pleasant suburban neighbourhood next to the university, a short ride into the walled city. Plenty of food stalls and small restaurants around, there is a big wet market with food court style food stalls in the morning.
The pool area covers most of the ground floor, though the pool don't looked too clean. There is a spa and sauna for guests after 3pm. Breakfast next to the pool is vey relaxing and pleasant.
The room is simply furnished with tv, minibar etc , our deluxe suite is in the wing across the lane, and has a balcony with the view of the city.

Room Tip: The newer wing could be quieter

Lanna Boutique is a feast for the eyes...Colorful walls, Lanna decor, Art everywhere. The swimming pool, a fairly large beautiful blue pool, is in the center of lobby, so that when you swim in it, you feel as if you are in the middle of living room with art on every wall. The rooms are clean, great beds and linens, big bath, hot water, etc... We rented the superior room which had a refrigerator and a private porch out the back. The staff is very friendly and more than helpful.

An added attraction for us is the sauna, steam room, and gym that is included in the price. We are here for R and R; so swimming, steaming and getting a massage makes us each very happy!

Yes, it is a walk to the old town. We had been to Chiang Mai before, and had a feel for how easy it is to get around the city center, by walking or fresh air cab. We liked to walk. The main street is very busy with traffic, but ask the receptionist how to go out the back gate to the streets behind where there are a multitude of little shops and restaurants on tree lined streets... very comfortable and homey!

There are seven eleven stores nearby for quick pick up items. and a very big modern grocery store 10-15 minute walk where you can get almost anything and then some.

I eat only vegetarian food, so the breakfast was a little sparse for me, but my husband enjoyed the daily eggs. Since we stayed almost ten days, i brought my own additional food to the table. The manager brought me an avocado one morning from his home..very sweet guy! Fresh fruit is served each day, but it would be nice if there was something more traditionally Thai food included.

We stayed at several other places in Chiang mai, but we are hooked on the Lanna!

Room Tip: the new building is quiet and big rooms.

Our friends made this booking on our behalf, and each couple had one deluxe room, where we stayed for 4 nights. Quite a comfortable stay, in a traditional-looking Thai-style accommodation.

Lanna Boutique Resort is a 120-150 baht tuk-tuk or red taxi bus away from the night markets, and a healthy walk from all the old Chiang Mai scene. It's off the main street, so pretty quiet. There is a nice, large pool and a restaurant onsite, where a standard omelette-toast-cocktail sausage-fruit breakfast is included. You can also order meals for lunch and dinner - which come from the nice restaurant just on the corner. There is a 7-11 at the end of the road, and also a smaller local shop closer yet, across from a pure water filling station for your water bottles. There are many massage places on the main road, and the well-known Wat-Pho massage school (which has its main branch in Bangkok and others elsewhere) is a five minute walk away. You need to book in advance for massages here.

Our friends stayed in two different rooms, due to scheduling issues. Both of their rooms and ours were quite spacious and tidy, with smooth timber floors, a flatscreen cable TV, fridge, kettle or urn & a balcony. We all agreed the beds were rather hard, and our sliding glass door was a bit tricky to lock. The showers are instant hot water, but on a pressure pump, so the pressure varied. Wifi was pretty good throughout.

The cleaning staff did a very thorough job, and service from everyone was friendly, quite attentive and good. We forgot our HDMI cable when we checked out, and the staff retrieved it and kept it at the front desk for us.

We enjoyed our stay, but have since learned it is possible to get as good or better accommodation for a bit less money. Would check prices carefully before booking again.

Loved this hotel, lovely pool and really relaxing! Staff made you feel so welcome! Defenetly would come again! The location was in a real Thai area which I very much enjoyed as felt could emerse myself in the culture. I also felt here was extremely good value to get pool gym and spa in hotel. Will certainly be using this hotel again and a big thank you to the staff for making me feel so welcome. I can not recommend here enough.
