“Hotel is okay... middle of the city.”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

Nothing wrong with this hotel unless you look for peace and quite and a bit of nature... when you step outside, it's immediately the center of the city... night market and more are a 15 minutes walk...

We found this Hotel through the excellent Web Asia website. It surprised us how nice the hotel was on arrival with a lovely lobby and large well appointed rooms. The staff were friendly and helpful on check in but dropped during the stay. Our guide for the next four days called to see us but we were not told and the information left was not passed on. We were also unable to buy drinks (non-alcoholic) in the bar when watching the World Cup semi-final despite two staff watching the game which was advertised in the lobby. I guess you get what you pay for and this was very cheap and in a great location near the excellent Night Bizarre.

Room Tip: Very well appointed for the money

This hotel was booked for us a part of a tour and I was worried about it having read some of the reviews. However, we found the rooms to be clean although dated and the bathrooms needed an update. The staff were very friendly and there was plenty of choice at breakfast. The location was great and the pool was very welcome after a day sightseeing in the humid Thai weather.

When we walked into this hotel it looked absolutely beautiful, we thought we were on a real winner BUT..thats as far as it goes. We booked this hotel months prior to our trip directly through the hotels website, now at the time when we booked it was a n exceptional deal, the 2 brm presedential suite for 4 nights 2 adults n 2 children including breakfast for $140 in total, so of course at that price we snapped up the deal and booked and received our confirmation number plus the daily room rate was itemised. About 4 weeks later hubby was checking the prices again and noticed that the presedential suite price just either side of our dates booked had suddenly gone up to $250 a night making our $40 a night a real bargain. So we arrived at the hotel with our booking confirmation, we were told to take a seat, the service was so slow THEN we found out why...firstly we were told that the presedential suite wasnt available because the owner was in it, of course that didnt go down well, so we argued saying that that wasnt good enough but they then offered us a different room, so once again words were said to THEN be told sorry but when you booked there was a gliche in the hotels software and the price quoted was incorrect, but as we said it isn't our fault and we do have confirmation of the price quoted and we should get that room at that price. So after much discussion and getting no where we ended up taking the offer of 2 deluxe interconnecting rooms. Now these would have to have been the scummiest rooms they had, for a supposive 4 star hotel its a joke. Once you walk past the beautiful glamorous lobby its all downhill from there. The hotel is old and outdated, no swipecards for the doors you get a key on a big keyring, the carpet is filthy with wear n tear n it looks like bleach marks dripped on the floor, if u had a small child I wouldnt put them on the carpet. Internet is free but not the best. The jug is annoying as it isnt cordless so you have to unplugged it to fill it, the bed is rock hard (ask for a mattress topper) , the breakfast is so so, alot of the time the food is cold. We stayed 4 nights and havent had carpet vacummed once, we didnt even get our room made up on one of the days we had to chase up someone as we needed towels n toilet paper. The pool is not bad, but lacks attention in the way of staff checking for dirty glasses n bottles that inconsiderate people leave down there. The brochure also mentions papers available these arent delivered to the room The hotel mentions a guest laundry, our idea of a guest laundry is where u go and do it yourself, this is not the case, if you want to do your own you can go out the hotel to the right n walk a very short distance and there is a self service or the lady there can do it for a reasonable price. There are a couple of positives, good location and we had a nice view of the Mountain, concierge staff are friendly but thats about the only ones who are . There is also a nice burmese restaurant to the right as well only a short distance. So would we stay again NEVER there would be much nicer places you could stay

Room Tip: Ask for a mattress topper for the hard bed, and a view of the Mountain but will more then likely cos...

Myself and my partner only stayed one night in this hotel. Booking in took time as reception was very slow. We were the only customers at the time. The room was clean as was the bathroom. What concerned me was all the electrical power point plugs were pulled from the wall exposing the wire making it very dangerous. Due to the location of the room traffic noise could be heard clearly. The bed was comfortable and large.
Breakfast was adequate however when wanting to toast bread I saw many cockroaches walking around and over the bread. That goes to say I did not have any breakfast.
Overall because of the concern with the electrical wiring in the room and cockroaches at breakfast I will not be staying at this hotel in the future

upon arrival @ this hotel, it looked plain outside, but when you step into foyer the place looks absolutely beautiful! but then it was a real smack in the face when they took me to the room that was booked! it was dirtly looking & smelt terrible. not at all like the pictures that was advertised. very disappointed, requested a better room they were accommodating, but once again disappointed. Room was a little better but not what i had expected. immediately requested booking be cancelled, but had to pay fee, which was small in comparison being unhappy in that dirty environment.

We booked in this hotel for 5 days and were wrapped when we saw the lobby.. Large, clean , modern and flash, but when we got in the lift we were cautiously on alert. Then when we were shown our room we almost gagged. Extremely old, bedding was very and stained walls and carpet filthy, bathroom covered in mold... We called reception and asked for clean room. After waiting we were taken into another room as bad but smelt of air freshener.. We paid the cancelation fee and took a toktuk to let meridien hotel... We used their business center, booked a room for 10 day at half price ( and are VERY HAPPY WE LEFT THE AMORA.). I would not recommend it to anyone, ever!!!!!

Room Tip: Do not book here!
