“Excellent location, good service & affordable”
Reviewed 2 July 2014

We stayed at this hotel while on vacation. We booked a suite for a family of four & the room was very spacious with two beds. The hotel welcomed us with a welcome drink & a fruit platter which was much appreciated in the scorching heat. The rooms although a little aged were still very comfortable & decorated in the orchid colors of Thailand. The bathroom had a tub, but the water wasnt very hot.
The location of the hotel is its biggest plus point. Its next to Kad Suan Kaew, a shopping mall with an excellent grocery store, food outlets, pharmacists, mobile phone vendors etc. The location of this hotel away from the hustle & bustle of the main city is ideal. Its not far to get to any spot in Chiang Mai for THB 20 & within 15 minutes. Major attractions in the vicinity are the zoo as well as the airport & Chiang Mai University.
Overall we were quite happy with the location & service at this hotel. They also accommodated our request for early check in which was nice. Cant beat this one for the convenience, location & rates.

Room Tip: The corner suites offer views of both the city & the mountains.

What this hotel lacks is services - especially from the front desk.

Example :

ME: Good morning. We have a reservation for 9.00am at the Rindia Spa. They asked us to be ready for an 8.40am pick-up. It's now 8.50am. Could you contact the spa to let them know we will possibly be late?
FRONT DESK: You call them
ME: I don't have their number with me
FRONT DESK: Then just wait

I’m not saying don't go here, just be prepared to be self-sufficient.

This hotel would have been spectacular in its day. The entire centre is one big long oval with the corridors ringed in layers providing access to rooms - easy to climb over so extra care of active children essential. The rooms have great views but there is no fresh air unless you open the front do and then everyone can see you.

Despite needing a bit of TLC, overall the hotel was relatively clean, the room’s spacious, with plumbing and air-con all functioning well.

The pool on L7 was large enough to cope with numerous holiday makers, but it's operating hours make it difficult to get to.

The breakfast ranged from below average (steamed and soggy: croissants, French toast and pastries) to delicious (noddles in soup, fresh omelettes and fruit).

Room Tip: Views to the mountian are good. The lifts are like dinasours - so allow a good 5 minutes travelling...

Nice room service, clean room, but Hot water does not work properly. Can not control it. Swimming pool big and nice service should have some pool bar for drink and some light food. Reception and bell boy are working good service. Nice driver transfer from the airport.

Room Tip: On the first floor have KFC , sizzler, and every Fri & Sat have small market near KFC.

Most of the staff are friendly, location is good, decent shopping mall below. That is it for the good. If you decide to stay here paying more than $35 a night including the terrible breakfast you payed too much. This is a 2 star hotel that should have been demolished 20 years ago. Oh, one more good thing, there was a singing Elvis impersonator for entertainment one night.

The only reason we chose to stay here was because it was recommended by the hair transplant clinic that my friend was going to. I love museums, but this hotel was not my cup of tea. It is quite old, in the traditional Thai wooden style, and it was musty smelling and very dark corridors. Unstable wifi, old TV. Connected to a shopping center with convenient eateries, by a complicated elevator and twist and turns via corridors.
Staff were very helpful whenever we were lost.

Room Tip: I think there is a a newer wing.

Plenty of room in a standard room. I would say double the size of what any standard would be. Nice 8 foot by 12 foot sitting area by the window that contains a small couch and a table with 2 chairs. You can really stretch out here. The whole hotel has a real Thai feel to it. The room could use a little up grade. TVs are old style. The control panel next to the bed that control all the lights and AC should be upgraded. But overall great hotel. Very clean. Public areas are beautiful. Service outstanding. US dollar 45 per night early March including breakfast. I consider this a real good deal considering the quality of the hotels which is superb.
