My wife and I stayed at the Empress for 3 nights, and found the hotel impressively decorated, with clean comfortable rooms looking out over the Chiang Mai skyline.

The staff could not be more friendly and helpful. The bar and pool areas are quiet and relaxing, and the restaurants serve something for everyone. The breakfast and dinner buffets are brilliant.

The rooms are nice and spacious, the only downside was the bathroom was quite cramped, and the bath/shower quite outdated.

Location is great, 15 mins walk will take you to the night bazaar and there's dozens of tuktuks around the corner to take you anywhere for a good bartered-down price.

Really could not fault this impressive hotel at all, but the most amazing thing about our stay here is how funny and friendly the staff were; they really would go the extra mile to make sure you're enjoying yourself!

We had a wonderful stay at the Empress. Better than most 5 star places we have stayed in Thailand.
The staff are brilliant, very attentive and willing to please.
The facilities very good with easy access to the airport and other parts of the city.
Vichit and his staff made my daughters 11th birthday a magic day with the attention and special dinner. Highly recommend you stay at The Empress when in Chiang Mai.

we stayed in the hotel for two nights and enjoyed it very much. the hotel is very cleen, has big rooms and preety good location (15 min. drive from the airport- and had very efficiant and free shutle service; 10 min. walk from the night market).
the staff was very kindly and efficiand but not everybody speeks or understand English.
if you stay there it's guaranteed pleasure, they have small indulgences in the room such as froot plate, chocolates.
they have realy good and filling breakfast. pay attention - don't forget to buy spray against mosquito - because there are planty of them there. as well i advice you to buy the trips from the agency on the corner and not from the hotel itself because the prices are more reasonable.
enjoy

My partner and I stayed here for five nights in April 2014. We paid 1900 Baht a night for a slightly better room than standard, and were very pleased. We had a quiet, spacious room with excellent furnishings and attentive daily cleaning. The breakfast buffet is very good indeed for this price of hotel, although the sausages (as normal in Asia) leave much to be desired. The hotel has a basic fitness centre in working order and a nice pool and poolside bar, although drinks there are much too expensive. Because we were staying for five nights, we were treated to a complimentary dinner, during which the staff were incredibly kind and hospitable. The location of the hotel is somewhat away from the old city to the south-west, but not inconveniently so. It's still perfectly possible to walk into town, and the popular night bazaar is a very easy stroll away.

In terms of improvement, the hotel WiFi is reliable but each room tends only to be able to have two devices online at a time, which is not ideal. More seriously, the Empress does not supply irons and ironing boards (they will press things for a fee), and has high prices for laundry. I recommend taking clothes to the nearby dedicated launderette just around the corner, as they are very good and much cheaper.

Overall, I strongly recommend this hotel as a reliable choice offering extremely good value and some lovely extras - we had flowers placed on our pillow every night and a welcome gift of chocolates! Wonderful place.

Room Tip: Go for the room one price point above the minimum - we did this and the spacious room provided was f...

I've stayed twice at the Empress Chiang Mai a week at a time in the past two years. The rooms were very affordable and had all the needed amenities. The staff is very professional and extremely courteous. The breakfast buffet was great to look forward to each morning. Very clean and well maintained property.

stayed here for a week, we just turned up and booked a room unfortunately half way through our planned week they were fully booked but the reception said they would try to help us out, they did and managed to change us to another room 3 days into our stay saving us a lot of messing around and trying to find another hotel. Hotel was spotless rooms great, shower was fitted a bit low for me but I managed. I found the staff went that extra mile for their customers and I was very pleased with them, breakfast was very good so well worth going, they had chefs cooking fresh food etc and a great spread of what ever you could possibly want, coffee was being topped up all the time we were there perfect !!!! Hotel was a 100 Bhat tuk tuk from all the action. Pool area was okay the staff there were not as well trained as the others so that must be where they put the trainees.
Overall we had a fantastic experience and would go back........

Room Tip: no noise at all as was in a very quiet area, the slightly more expensive rooms we were moved to the...
