My pal and I spent nearly 2 weeks at the Empress, we enjoyed a good rate and several extras as part of our package. Thailand was in disarray because of the political situation and business was not brisk!
We enjoyed prompt pick up [price included] from the airport and arrived to a smiling group of FOH staff who attended to us promptly, issued our Gold Card and showed us to or home for the next 12 nights. A well appointed De Luxe [upgraded] room on the 10th floor, no major criticism but the bathroom was a little small as was the bath. The bed was comfortable and every night flowers were left on the pillow. The nice surprise was a goody bag full of nice snacks and chocs delivered by the room staff on the first night. Breakfast was good-I had a small problem the first morning with my poached eggs arriving still in their shell!!!! The following day 2 perfectly soft poached eggs were delivered to the table within 5 minutes of my arrival, this continued for every day. The catering highlight was the complementary dinner which was included as a free extra, the food and service was wonderful a real happy dining experience made exceptional by a decent brigade of chefs and first class waiting staff.
The pool was clean with comfortable beds, often quite empty it was a nice place to relax, when busy it was a little chaotic mainly due to disrespectful guests, a nice fitness room was available.
Now the reason for our happiness with the Empress was the quality of staff they employ, the Training Manager should take a bow for educating all staff in excellent customer service, it was a pleasure to be served by them. For a 4 star hotel nothing short of magnificent and considerably better than many 5 star hotels I have stayed in.
Thank you Empress for a good package at a fair price, I will return in October and look to repeat my 'Best Experience---Well Done All.

Room Tip: Higher floors seem best-the 4 lifts ensure no waits up or down.

We booked this hotel and got a really good deal. The reception is large and we got a good welcome. Our room was dated but spacious, same with the bathroom. The location of the hotel is central with everything within walking distance. Staff were very polite. The best thing was the breakfast, numerous choices of western and local foods, both hot and cold. None of the freebies or upgrades that others have mentioned but for the price we paid we felt we got excellent value. A good choice for a couple of days stay.

Since arriving in Thailand we have stayed at many beautiful hotels, but not traditional hotels, last night we stayed at The Empress hotel, a true Lanna style hotel. From the time that you arrive, you can not fail to be amazed, from the seating in the lobby area, the bedrooms and everything about the hotel in general. The reception is staffed with English speaking employees, all of whom wear typical Lanna style outfits, we are so pleased that we took the opportunity and will certainly stay here again when next in Chiang Mai

The Empress Hotel in Chiang Mai was somewhat of a last minute booking, and what a delight it turned out to be. From the moment I checked in until the moment I checked out I can only give the most complimentary of comments.

Without exception the staff were magnificent and went the extra mile to ensure that everything was perfect.

The hotel itself was spotless, the rooms were large, bright and airy and the food was plentiful, well cooked and very nicely presented. The staff in the restaurant were impressively helpful at all times.

I have previously stayed at the Holiday Inn CM and the Amora Hotel. By far the Empress leaves these behinds. I will certainly now make The Empress my preferred hotel in Chiang Mai.

Ten out of ten to all the staff at the Empress - particularly the reception staff. Caring service with a smile from all the staff. WELL DONE.
