The hotel is old but clean. Te hotel was close to the night bazaar... Easy to walk to. I would not stay here again there are plenty of nicer hotels around. We booked an extra night on agoda apparently I only booked t for 1 person... They let us stay in the same room but try charged is for the extra person... Even though we were in the same room.

Stayed: April 2014

Very dark hotel which was a tad strange - barely any windows and long/dark corridors.

Restaurant was the worst of our tour, staff literally stared at you eating and on your last bite of food would rush over and grab the plate.

Rooms were clean but probably need upgrading soon.

The pool was lovely and gym huge. Had 2 good workouts in there as the equipment was pretty good.

Usefull info :
Restaurants :
1. The Whole earth : Go out to the street and turn left - two minutes walk. Thai food .
2. Seafood market by the river : Go out to the street and turn right . At the T junction (near Anantra hotel) turn left . After few min walk it is on the right side . Thai food.
3. McDonalds , Starbucks and other : Go out to the street and turn left. At the street lights junction (few min) turn right . Street with shops and night markets. Along you'll find these and other places to eat or have a drink.
Grosseries :
1. Small 7/11 at front of the hotel .
2. Ask at the hotel and they guide you to a bigger grocery store western level.
Old city :
There are temples to see and its nice just to wonder around there . Pay no more than 100bat for taxi or tuk-tuk.
Tours :
One agency at the hotel , and many outside. Go out to the street and turn left . Less than two min you'll hit an agency . Two guys – one looks like a local "hipi". We booked two tours .
These come with aircon mini-van with driver and guide (run by a company call Amphorn ). These are decent tours to see the attractions around the city and farther. One day tour is around 1000-1300 bat. Private tours are at least 6000 bats – so if you are 4 people and above it might be worthy.
Messages :
Street level all around . A more upscale Spa is THE PEAK . Go out to the street and turn left. At the street lights junction (few min) turn left . After a few min walk you'll see their sign guiding you left to an alley .
The Hotel :
This might have been a very nice hotel once built , but now the age takes it's toll.
Front desk stuff- OK, including luggage to from room. You can get a safe at the front desk.
Lobby – spacey .
Room – large with big bed , minibar with space for your stuff also, bath , good aircon.
Breakfast : good variety buffet .
Things to improve easily :
1. Mosquitoes at lobby and restaurant . Hotel should take care that front doors will not stay open, and sometimes happen. Mosquito electric blue light devices can be spread at lobby and dinning area.
2. Toilet paper – please put two at the room !!
3. Ants : we had many at the 11th floor . Seems to live at the ceiling . Suggest to make a sanitation plan.

Is it possible to love and hate a hotel at the same time?
My wife and I have been staying here for years during the annual cricket sixes week held in Chiangmai.
We love the location, the foyer is grand and the staff are competent. The rooms are a fair size and cheap.
The downside is the place is getting old and needs a refurb. The hot water in the shower didn't work for two days. The maintenance guy said to let the water run for 30 mins to warm up. Yeh right.
The beds are like roads, the towels are wafer thin and the breakfast area needs a revamp. Very few staff in attendance and the egg chef continually does a runner.
I will prob stay here again next year but it's getting close to bye bye time.
PS, if you get sick, don't try to clean up cos we got slugged for the cost of the towels we ruined. Next time I'll get housekeeping in straight away.

The hotel itself is in a very good location, near to the nigh tmarket and walking distance from many restaurants. it was actually better than I had expected it to be, having read some of the reviews on TripAdvisor before we departed the UK. We stayed two nights as part of a tour of Thailand. Our room was excellent, very spacious and comfortable and the lobby is airy and spacious. However the meal we had in the restaurant was the worst meal we had eaten in Thailand. Our tour group of five people were the only ones dining, so there was no atmosphere and the food was sparing and quite unappetising. Breakfast was okay, but again not what we had been experiencing in Thailand during our tour. They need a new food and beverage manager!
