“Relaxing River Views”
Reviewed 28 August 2013

Just over the Iron Bridge, on the right, about 300 meters along the Chiang Mai-Lamphun Rd you will find one of Chiang Mai’s best kept secrets. Mamia Coffee is a charming café with a wonderfully picturesque view of the Ping River. You can quite easily lose track of time here; relaxing, sipping cool, refreshing drinks, and snacking on delicious morsels while reading a book, taking advantage of free wi-fi, watching the Mae Ping River Cruise boats go by (the office and landing is directly across the river), or listening to the calming sounds of Wat Chaimongkol (the only temple in Chiang Mai which is right on the river bank). They are open for dinner, as well, and their authentic menu offers some of the best dishes you will find in Chiang Mai. The cakes, all made by the owner, are especially delicious, and varied. The staff members are always very friendly and eager to please, with beautiful smiles. As expats, living in Chiang Mai, we enjoy everything about Mamia, proud to entertain our friends there when they visit, and it is one of our favourite places in this wonderful city.

“Idyllic spot hidden past auto-garages right on the river. Cake/pie only before 10:30 am.”
Reviewed 13 February 2013 via mobile

Awesome cafe right on the river where you could relax in the shade all day. The staff is very friendly but only spoke a little English when we visited. We wanted breakfast but they only serve cakes/pies before 10:30 am. We stayed anyways and had iced coffee and Thai iced tea on the amazing patio.

Absolutely the best genuine Thai food we found in Chiang mai. The service can be compared with a 5 star restaurant in Paris.

“The Coolest place in Chiangmai”
Reviewed 21 December 2012

If you want a cool place by the river to relax and pass your day away, Mamia Cafe is the place to be, sitting on the rivers edge of the Ping river and looking over some beautiful scenery its the place to just unwind.
The Coffee and the food is wonderful...perhaps the best coffee I have had in Chiangmai not to mention the friendly staff, Mamia is now also open for dinner in the evenings which is also an exceptional time to come and relax.
Mamai Cafe is certainly a place to come and see and enjoy, as an expat living here along with other expats we find this place to be a great meeting place with friendly and reliable service.
