“a Fun place to be”
Reviewed 13 January 2014

The Downunder pub is owned by Steward (an Australian) and his lady love Noi (meaning little petite one). They're a lovely couple and they previously owned the 69 bar in Chang Mai. The latter is the pub we got to know the couple at because they are avid sports fans - if there is a rugby match, soccer match or any sporting event you wish to watch + cannot do so in your condo or hotel - this is the place to be. My guy is a big SA Springbok rugby fan so we have been here often!

The drinks are priced well and the service comes with smiles and what is worth knowing = that the bar ladies don't crawl all over you for drinks and all sorts here. This is a top-notch bar where you can simply relax and have a good night out. You will never feel harassed here, and if you do you can ask to speak to Noi or Steward and they will assist you immediately.

The toilets are clean, the staff provide helpful and handy hints on where to eat, what to do etc and all-in-all this is a great place to stop by for some companionship, a festive atmosphere, friendly bar banter and an ice-cold beer.

“Chiang Mai 2014 New Year bash”
Reviewed 1 January 2014

I have been going to Downunder Pub for the occasional frosty on evey visit to the city, and ever since it opened, thats after Stewart and Noi sold 69 Bar.

The pub is situated on the Eastern extreme of Loi Kroh Road, the Western extreme being the mote of the Old City, its right in the Night Bazaar, and has a nice big sign.

You wont ever go to Downunder Pub without finding a bunch of Expats socialising and the latest rugby, cricket and other sport events being streamed live.

This last visit was not for sport though, Stewart and Noi were having a New Years Eve Bash on the roof-top section of the pub, they had catered for the occasion, which was rather thoughtful and important as there was a long evening ahead.

No roof-top do on New Years Eve is complete without lanterns and closer to midnight our very own fireworks display.

It was great being back at Downunder Pub, Stewart and Noi and their fabulous friendly staff, made it a memorable welcoming in of the new year.

If you are after a cold beer, light meal and a safe and secure environment to spend an afternoon or to this is the place. Simply engage with the owner and the staff and you won't have any issues, very friendly and accomadating bar for sure

“See some soccer?”
Reviewed 17 November 2013

Stopped in to meet some friends, beer is about the same as everywhere else and they have live games of rugby and football on a flat screen as well as the schedule for what will be on for the day and thru the next week. Fun to root for your home teem with a mix of fans.

Nice to stand outside and watch the games from the street and heckle the passer byes.

“Not so easy to find”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

Nothing special, big screen for sports, asked to pay before consuming, not the ideal way to welcome new punters.
