“Fabulous hotel in old city and convenient for temples - there was a bit of bar noise at night”
Reviewed 31 January 2014

Personally, we loved this hotel. The location is great at the quieter end of Rajvithi Road in the Old City and easy walking distance to the main temples (Wat Chiang Mai, Wat Chedi Luang,Wat Phra Singh etc). They will organize an airport transfer for 150 baht (same price as a regular taxi)

The staff were fabulous- nothing too much trouble - and we loved the traditional Lanna style rooms. The breakfast buffet is good with hot Thai food, eggs cooked to order if you ask, pastries, yoghurt, cereal, fruit etc. The breakfast area is partially open so you may need a sweater in the cooler months.

There is a nice pool area, although not many sunbeds and at the time of year we visited (December) it didn't get the sun all day and the water was a bit chilly - but then again, you don't really come to Chiang Mai to sunbathe! Also, it is true what other reviews have said that the owner's house behind the pool has the best view (see photo).

Only things to mention - the safe in the room keep jamming and needing resetting, it is also not secured to the wall. Our room at the back of the hotel had noise from bars until about midnight or so...

But really a lovely hotel, I would definitely stay here again.

Hi guys,
I was At Chiang Mai hotel the 13th of december for 4 nights.Room 224, good, silent. The staff is helpful and the night you can walk out for dinner without getting tuk-tuk. The bad thing is the breakfast. Few food, not replaced in time if you have breakfast 20 minutes after starting. It depends also because japanese and russian people literally brush the trays !!! But what is VERY ANNOYING, Is the WIND in the open space of the breakfast area. The manager has a lot of work to improve the hotel. At least, the place can be selected, but, for that country, it's a bit overpriced.

The staff are so nice and they gave us many recommendations, so we had a great spa and good meal in the riverside restaurant.
Many comments say that the breakfast there is not good and I expected that the food is not good before the trip. But then I found the breakfast is much better than my expectation. There are many different food and my friend and I ate a lot. Also, they are so nice that they provided breakfast even my friend had to check out at 4:00 am and it includes a sandwich, drinks and a fruit box.
Last but not least, the restaurant in front of the hotel is good too.The fried noodle is delicious. The small stall selling mango sticky rice is good too but it closes quite early.

Room Tip: one downside is that the room does not have windows but this is ok for me

There were 7 of us in 3 rooms. The hotel is new or newly renovated with elements of traditional cultural facets. It is on the whole comfortable but the elderly may have to watch out for some awkwardly placed steps at doorways which may trip someone off.

The breakfast buffet was my favourite, with a good spread of Asian and Western dishes. I looked forward to that every morning during my stay in Chiang Mai.

Whilst the hotel was good, it could have been a little cheaper considering the room prices in Thailand are generally low.

Nice little cozy hotel, good staff and great decor! The only downside we found was breakfast with mostly cold and unappealing food, especially the bakery goods. Very quiet and peaceful. Pool looked good although not too much privacy since it was right at the front of reception.

The hotel gave us an invitation for the new year party and told us to register at 6 pm and the party starts at 7pm. We went down at 6:50 but didn't find the place to register. We saw a fat women sitting behind the table and showed her the invitation card asking where we could register but she looked at the card and started to yell in Thai without saying anything to us. After shouting for around 3 mins, she told us she doesn't know who gave us the invitation card and walked away. Later we found out that women is the hotel owner. We couldn't understand why a hotel owner can be that rude to the guest. We will definitely never stay in this hotel again. Choose another hotel!

The hotel was lovely and comfortable, very friendly staffs. A lot of places to visit at walking distance. The travel desk helped us to book visits. The food was nice, but lot of pork, when we mentioned we can eat pork they changed the menu. I would say value for money. we stayed 5 days and it was great.
