“A good place to stay in Chiang Mai”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

Roseate in Chiang Mai was a reasonably priced, clean hotel with nice rooms and a decent buffet breakfast. The rooms were well appointed and had all the facilities you would expect of a hotel in this price range. The hotel is not really in the centre of town, but with the options of either walking through the old city or catching taxis to get to the night bazaar area or to walking street, you are not really inconvenienced very much. Also, being near one of the old city gates you are close to cheap, good quality Thai street food for dinner. The staff were friendly and the tour company in the foyer were helpful and reasonably competitive.

We thought this was a reasonably well priced good quality hotel for its location.

Stayed here for a couple of nights and enjoyed our time here. As mentioned in a couple of other posts, the staff weren't brilliant and some have very limited English, but we had no issues with them.

We arrived at 8.30am on a train from Bangkok, and even though check in isn't until 2 (we expected just to leave our bags somewhere), they let us in very early with no extra charge! Free wifi great, and complimentary parking very useful as we hired a car for our last day.

Hotel was modern and clean (although bathroom a little tired) and breakfast was sufficient. Not as much choice as other places, but sufficient to find something for everyone.

Overall a good hotel, with just a few small negative points.

This hotel has excellent large, comfortable, clean rooms. In room facilities are very good - big bed, nice bathrooms and plenty of room for storage. The breakfast is very good with lots to choose from. The staff, however, are very unfriendly. Having stayed in many hotels in SE Asia, I am used to the staff being the highlight of the stay. None of the staff even acknowledged me and I would even go as far to say that I felt I was disturbing them when I needed something. A very good hotel, good value for money, just don't expect much service.

We stayed here in July 2014 and loved it. It is a modern hotel with spacious rooms at the northern end of the old town, in perfect walking distance to explore the old town and riverside by foot! Make sure you explore the little lanes to the left at the back of the hotel, loads of great little restaurants and massage places!

Roseate seemed to be a more modern hotel in Chiang Mai located at the north end of the moated, old city. Chiang Mai as a whole is a very walkable city, and you can walk all around the old part of town from near the hotel browsing shops, restaurants, bars. I preferred this location to what seemed to be the more touristy area of Chiang Mai by the night bazaar. In addition to being in a great location, we rented motor bikes for 99 baht/day and were able to easily get all around town during our stay. I would definitely recommend renting motorbikes for your stay in the city.

The breakfast buffet as the hotel had a wide variety of choices, from traditional American breakfast foods, to salad, pastas, Thai soups, fried rice, and more. While an eclectic mix, you're bound to find something for your taste.

We didn't find the staff to be as helpful as other places we stayed in Thailand, but didn't run into any problems with them.

The rooms themselves were clean for the most part and had big, comfortable beds. Good place for the price.

Pros: Free Wi-Fi that is accessible even in the room. Breakfast was adequate but nothing fancy. About 15min from the airport.

Cons: Limited tour desk, certain staff at reception were so cold and unfriendly. Bad location - surrounding shops were repair or mechanic shops. Not much choice of food nearby or to get a last minute massage or anything. Good thing about the location was that there is a 7-11 downstairs.

Excellent location, modern and boutique hotel touch, clean and very convenient alone, with company, group or family.
Very professional management.
Front desk service need time to mature.
