This older boutique hotel has potential to be an urban oasis. Although located in a bustling part of the old city it is quiet -- although some of the guests on the grounds can be noisy. About 60 percent of the hotel's guests are now mainland Chinese who can be a bit loud and like to smoke. The hotel offers a free buffet breakfast but get there early as certain items seem to run out.
The rooms are tastefully decorated. The one we stayed in had no real doors separating the room from the bathroom. Fine if you're a solo traveler but a couple or family may not like that arrangement.
I had one issue booking through the front desk a taxi for a day tour. We were assured that the rate to visit a couple of tourist attractions outside the city would total B1500 for up to eight hours. But the driver refused to take us to a nearby third location in the fifth hour saying that would cost B800 additional. I refused to pay extra and we returned to the hotel. I explained to the front desk what happened and they were polite and apologized for the confusion. But they need to do a better job of booking taxis and explaining the terms and conditions to the guests.More
