My husband and I stayed at the Tamrind Village whilst on our honeymoon.

This was our first oversees trip together and the staff made us feel very welcome. We received recommendations on things to do in Chiang Mai - there was a great trips and tours book in reception.

The hotel itself is very quiet and peacefull - it did not feel as though we were in the middle of Chiang Mai! Excellent location with pleanty of restuarnants/markets within walking distance - also easy access to tuk tuks. We felt very safe walking the streets of Chiang Mai and found it to be a very easy place to travel around.

The restaurant was reasonably priced with exceptional service. It was lovely to sit by the pool whilst having breakfast each morning.

This was a fantastic start to our trip and we are really looking forward to our next visit.

Stayed here pre and post trekking and found the quality of personal service quite outstanding. Hotel is an oasis in the city centre, perfectly situtaed for the markets and other sites. Rooms lovely, pool area tranquil, but still suited to lively families. Food in restaurant excellent, as was the service, with a particular mention for 'Ken' who my daughters wanted to wrap up and bring home! When we return to Chaing Mai we will stay here again without hesitation.

We stayed here for 4 days before travelling on to Chaing Rai ..... couldn't fault it . It was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop. Staff were polite and helpful and the food was very good. The pool clean and "warm" fresh towels etc .... the rooms were sparse but adequate. I was a bit of trek to get to the nightlife but it was fine .... would go again but only for a short stay as it was very quiet. Ideal for a honeymoon but not if you want alot of life .....

Visited here for 4 days from Feb 3rd to 7th 2009. We were in a 1st floor Deluxe room which tho' simply furnished was very pleasant. The small balcony with settee was lovely in the evening to sit out on & listen to the flute & Thai guitar player who comes from 6pm every evening for an hour. The pool area is quiet & restful tho' could do with a little more attention to remove some of the leaves from the water from surrounding trees.- this is a minor 'niggle'.The reception area is very 'Lanna' Thai & attractive & the staff are absolutely charming & very very helpful. Breakfasts eaten next to the pool are fabulous & rarely did we ever need lunch! The whole ambience is one of restful tranquility. The town is busy but has many of the best Temples we've ever seen & a day out to the elephant camp, bamboo rafting, long necked women village & orchid farm with lunch is a must. For dinner we found a really good -& very cheap Italian restaurant -go left from the hotel, cross the busy road at the end of the street , through the gate & across the big square. Cross the next road & take the road straight ahead & first left is 'Pulcinello da Stefano' This road has a sign for books just past the reataurant. Dinner for 2 for about 700 Baht & very good food. There is another Italian almost directly opposite the hotel main entrance in a small enclosed square. also a coffee shop & very good & cheap massage parlour. For vegetarians ( it also does great meat food too ) the Whole Earth restaurant -a tuk tuk ride from the hotel- is in a gorgeous setting & we ate there for about 1350 Baht including a couple of beers & a glass of (as usual, Cold red wine) We both loved Chaing Mai & the hotel is a delight. We would very happily go back.

My husband and I spent three nights at Tamarind village last week. We felt that this is one of the best hotels we have stayed in in the world! The hotel staff were so welcoming, so helpful, and treated us extremely well. The breakfasts were VERY good, and the food was all fresh. The hotel is in a great location within the walls. It is a short walk to spas, bars, markets. It is a short tuk tuk ride away from the night market and food market. The ambiance of the hotel really makes you feel like you are in paradise. We can't say anything bad about Tamarind Village. They even stored our bags for us and lent us towels when we went on a three day trek.

Enjoyed 6 nights in January as a restful retreat just doing some day trips and otherwise enjoying the hotel as a Sanctuary. Very professional, thoughtful and caring staff. - with good humour too! Premises are spotlessly maintained. Good restaurant if you dont want to go out. Well located in the old city. Nice pool area.
