Even though the hotel is in the midst of upgrading, the rooms are clean and spacious. It is very near the night market and eating places.

A group of us stayed in Suriwongse hotel at the end of April and was upgraded to the 6th floor of the old wing. The Hotel is superbly located opposite Le Meridien Hotel and smack along the night market. China Town (Worurop market) was about 500 metres down.

Although the old wing was in need of refurbishment as the musty smell permeated around the lobby, we were happy with the rooms they upgraded our group on the 6th Floor. Some parts of the Hotel is already undergoing refurnishment as we understand that the Hotel will be rebranded as "Movenpick" sometime at the end of the year..

Generally if you are going to be out and about most of the day, all that is needed after a long tiring day is a good clean bed and toilet and I must say Suriwongse fits the bill nicely. The only down side is that the Lift stops on the 5th Floor and we need to carry our heavy bags up and down a flight of steps.

Excellent location with star bucks, haagen daz, burger king and Mc Donalds just a doorstep next door.

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights in April,We booked this hotel for location and the location was fantastic..

WE were picked up from the hotel with the private taxi service at 180bhat per person and the driver was at Chiang mai int airport with my name on a board(great start) a fantastic air con bus for 5 adults and 5 big Suitcases.
We were checked in at the new recepition of the hotel and greeted with a fantastic Thai smile...We were then shown to our two rooms Orchid deluxe rooms in the new wing on level 7..Fantastic upgraded rooms with amazing space with a ultra large double bed and massive three seater sofa and two chairs and table..The bathroom had a sunken bath and its own private shower with the other bits and bobs..The breakfast was ok but you could fill your self up for the day ahead..
The swimming pool was closed at the hotel but they give us a ticket to use at the ECO LODGE fantastic swimming pool with free transfers if not a tuk tuk was 100baht so not bad at all.
The travel agent on site was great with the trips and we booked the flying with the gibbions ...Now that was fantastic.
The bar on road level overlooking the night market was a great way to start the evening with bottles of small chang at 65baht and vodkas and sprite at 125baht...

In all a great hotel but a fantastic hotel when it will be finished..

A credit to the transfer guy and also reception staff....

We stayed for 5nights while in Chiang Mai in March.

We had a family room which was very large and great so parents can have some extra space away from their kids!

Bed’s very comfortable. The bathroom was lovely and clean and was cleaned well each day.

The only downfall was the Breakfast it was basic, eggs on toast were great as some of the curries/stir fries seemed to be from the previous nights dinner buffet.

Pool wasn't operational during our stay but the hotel offered a free shuttle service to another hotel.

I would stay again and look forward to seeing the changes when it changes to Movenpick.

We stayed family suit room at 546 and 548.
My aunt and uncle stayed deluxe room at 742

Positive points

Overall, it was ok because room was large, good location for sightseeing and price.
Hotel stuff were really nice and friendly.
Deluxe room is not such a large but all facility went well.

Negative points

Room 546 was dark, really dark
This room was large but they have just 1 table light.
I wanted to take some lights from my room which room No 548 but room 546 don't have enough electrical outlet on wall. My parents couldn't read book before sleeping.
This room can not call as suit room because electrical outlet position is not designed at all.
For making tea at room, we have to move kettle front of window because just only 1 outlet in this room.

Room 548 was poor for shower area, really not well‐drained shower area. it was looking that I made tsunami in all for bath room.
I asked for fixing about it but nothing happened,
Telephone to outside not went well...

I am not sure to stay in family suit and suit room but I will think about to stay deluxe room for next time.
