This was a good hotel and the service was excellent, however I think for this price you can find better. The room had a great set up, it was a big room with a couch and carpet, (there is carpet in the whole hotel as it is an old hotel), and it was cozy enough with a great bathtub.

It is worth a stay if you have limited options, it provides comfort, but not value.

Cannot say enough about how good Chon and his staff are.
We had a sudden change of plan to our travels forced upon us and Chon and his staff made it all happen, smooth as silk, Flights, Transfers the lot.
All the rooms are luxury and the Hotel location is brilliant ,Laundry, Internet Cafes, Market, the works.
The resteraunt has a fantastic band that does nearly any Western or Thai request you care to mention.
They don't play too loud, being a resteraunt, but will pump up the party as night goes on if you wish.
We had a great time.

Room Tip: Get one ith a viewof te river and mountains.

Convenient location stone throw away to night bazaar. Room is spacious and clean on high floor, overlooking Suthep Hills. Staff was helpful and friendly. Free parking. Breakfast spread was limited and food just edible, need to improve on quality and variety.

We stayed most of a week. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was good - close to the street market. I hadn't realised when I booked that it was under renovation, so it could certainly have looked better (and will no doubt do so when finished) but there wasn't any building noise or inconvenience. We'd certainly have no problem staying again.

I am working in Bangkok and been visiting Chiangmai on a regular basis. This is the first time I have stayed at Suriwongse Hotel and I recommend it for anyone staying in Chiangmai!
The hotel is located a few steps from the night bazaar. Simply go out of the main entrance and you are there...

The hotel staff are very friendly, my room was very spacious, clean and quiet and breakfast was a real treat with a great variety of dishes and the best service you can find (believe me, I have looked around).

So, for your next trip to Chiangman, stay at this great hotel. You will not regret this choice!

We stayed 5 nights on a business trip. The room is very nice, spacious and was cleaned very well each day. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and we also used the tour guide desk twice and they were very helpful. The hotel is conveniently located near the night bazar and shopping area. One day, I left the "do not disturb" by accident for the whole day. I called at 9:00 PM when I was back, and in 5 minutes someone came to clean my room. We definitely enjoyed our stay very much.

We stayed in this hotel during our vacation fr 16–21 Oct 2012. We faced unreasonable treatment during our checkout as the hotel charged us 2000 baht as penalty for smoking in 1 of the hotel room. We are definitely not happy and disappointed as:
1) We were not informed of their non-smoking procedure during our check-in, no non-smoking sign in the hotel room sighted and no written terms & conditions given to us on their non-smoking policy. Although the hotel staff insisted they have told our tour guide but our question is who is staying in their hotel, we or the tour guide?
2) Hotel staff was rude (Atnarat P.) who queried our English understanding and asking us to wait if we want to meet his manager (Khum Rachon Chaiyong). He understands very clearly that we were not able to wait, as we need to catch our flight back home.
3) Although we treat the whole situation as daylight robbery, we had no choice but to pay up in order to leave the place. We insisted an official receipt and were given one with the description of misc charges. We queried Atnarat P. if he understands the term and if the hotel treats their so called FINED as misc charges? He also could not give us a breakdown as how this 2000 baht fine comes about. Is he or is he not qualified for the job?

Room Tip: Please check their policy first as you might be surprise on their next hidden policy!

Dear Chrissie L,

Thank you for taking the time to express your opinion and giving us thereby useful feedback. We were very concerned that your recent stay was not up to expectations. Please accept our sincere apologies for some unhappy aspects of your stay. Clearly, the experiences you have encountered are not at all the kind of fine service we strive to provide all our guests.
As a testament of our strive for perfection, we have instantly taken necessary steps to ensure that this will not happen again by reviewing our preventive maintenance program and staff couching.

The next time that you visit Chiang Mai, I do hope you will honour us a return visit to our hotel and allow us the opportunity to show you the improvements we have made by delivering the usual high standards that you both deserve and should rightfully expect

Our sincere apologies once again and look forward to the opportunity of being of service to you once again.

With kind regards,
