Come to Dhara Dhevi for something unlike you have ever experienced before. Its not just a luxury hotel with the typical amenities and experience you come to expect. It is truly a spectacular experience and a memorable stay. With so many good reviews just know that you will be heading to a place that won't disappoint. You deserve to experience a place like this, at least once in your life and this is such a "Thai" specific property, you won't get this experience anywhere else in the world. Rooms, grounds, staff, food -- its all wonderful.

From the moment of arrival where a garland of sweetly scented blossoms are placed around your neck by beautifully presented smiling staff and you are offered a complimentary chilled lemongrass tea whilst seated in an ornately decorated pagoda on check in, you begin to realise you are in for a once in a lifetime experience.

This sprawling masterpiece of a hotel is so mind bogglingly awesome you may spend a lot of time stopping, standing and staring opened mouthed ‘ooohing’ and ‘aaahing’ over the attention to detail which comes down to the last minutiae.

We stayed in villa with a private pool, steam room, dining pavilion and grand piano surrounded by rice paddies, flowering shrubs and tall shady trees. Our villa was so beautifully sumptuous we only left it to amble a few meters outside to the magnificent spa which offers the most indulgent of treatments which also includes a huge hamman steam room and ornately decorated heated indoor plunge pool available to all guests.

The staff are amazingly friendly, attentive and gracious. We were made to feel like royalty.
Staying at the Dhara Dhevi is a special occasion. I would recommend you go with someone you love as the beauty and magic of the place has to be shared.

All the reviews say it - and they're right!
This is a super hotel, but it's so much more than just that, principally because it occupies more than 55 acres, and is a real delight just to wander round (or cycle round) with its courtyards, hidden amphitheatre, rice paddies, two nice big pools and lazy poolside lunches, two good tennis courts (they provide racquets and balls) - and quite the most interesting gardens tended by a vast team.

The breakfasts are memorable, and the Thai and French restaurants excellent.

We were there inbetween the Thai New Year/Water Festival and Easter, so it was quiet (which we enjoy), and having just finished an energetic 2 weeks touring Myanamar we thoroughly enjoyed our few relaxing days at the Mandarin, where the days disappeared all too quickly............

We just left one of the very few paradises on earth. Mandarin Oriental is just “out of this world” for everything that is in this saying and we wanted to return before leaving the gates. The premises are huge and include numerous separate Villas, two large swimming pool areas, a operating rice field, restaurants and a Colonial Complex with large, very comfortable suites. Everything kept in a prompt colonial style and it is just like living in a 18th century novel. It is not to describe – you just have to come here and experience!

I spent a week at the Mandarin Oriental with my sister and my two children. The staff was amazing, the rooms were great, the spa was top-notch and the rooms were spacious. They were filming "The Bachelorette" on-site and even though they were filming we never felt overwhelmed by the crew or the cast.
We stayed in the colonial rooms vs the villa because we wanted 4 beds. The villas look amazing but the colonial rooms were more than spacious.
The gym could be a bit bigger and the Thai restaurant was a bit on the expensive end for Thai food but other than that, it was great!

Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi in Chiang Mai is one of the most welcoming hotels we’ve ever been to. It was a short stay, only 4 days, but we will remember it forever!

To be honest, my husband and I were afraid of going to Thailand, we’ve never been to Asia and didn’t know what to expect. However, from our first steps in Bangkok airport till our departure the week after we were very pleasantly surprised with the kind attitude of Thai people. We stayed at Mandarin Oriental in Chiang Mai, the hotel is a place to visit itself, mix of Chinese / Indian / Thai architecture, wonderful restaurants (with local culture entertainment at some evenings) and amazing SPA. The hotel has different activities like umbrella making, culinary classes and various activities at rice fields. All the sports facilities and classes are there as well. We haven’t had a chance to do activities but I believe it would be the reason to go back there with children in a few years. We had one treatment in SPA and it was extremely good, even my husband who doesn’t really like all this staff enjoyed it and agreed to go for the second treatment (unfortunately we had to cancel it last minute because I wasn’t feeling well, and they didn’t charge us for that which was very nice of them).

Villa: We’ve reserved a normal villa with Jacuzzi but we were offered a very reasonable upgrade to a villa with pool. We’ve visited both and both were beautiful. We decided we would upgrade, but again, we only had an opportunity to use the pool once. Doesn’t matter, it was nice to sit in the pool area and enjoy the breakfast. I think it would be a good place to go with children as there was even kitchen area outside. Very clean and spacious rooms, Jacuzzi on the balcony brings romance, swimming pool, bananas growing in your small garden, and very welcoming and helping staff made our stay in the hotel unforgettable.

The other thing I wanted to mention was breakfast, it was great but don’t miss out to try fruits they put out, my husband tried something (and we still don’t know what it was) with a taste of bubblegum! He was amazed!

I would definitely recommend going there! We were told that there is another good hotel in that area (4 seasons) but Mandarin is newer and you’ll definitely feel special.

The most amazing hotel we've ever stayed at. From the amazing grounds, to the gorgeous day spa and incredible service, we could ask for any more.
The hotel manager Greg Liddell went out of his way to make our stay memorable, and remembered us by name! Wow!
We ate at all 4 eateries on the premisis. The thai restaurant (try the pomello salad YUM!!) and the pool bar where we had a light snack, the french restaurant was lovely for a special occasion. But favorite of all the Chinese!! Delicious yum cha, and pekking duck that was out of this world!!
I cannot recommend this hotel enough! It was the ultimate relaxing holiday!
