We booked this hotel after accidentally cancelling another reservation and we were so impressed! We don't usually book such large hotels but this one was very different. The grounds were immaculate and the service was outstanding - agree with the previous positive reviews.

We stayed in a deluxe corner colonial suite and it was more than adequate - it was enormous! We took the tip from other reviewers and didn't spend the extra money on a villa - we had the pool near the fitness centre to ourselves for the whole weekend. This pool was not as close to our room but it was so much nicer so it was worth the bicycle ride.

We love street food so we took a short taxi ride for the best khao soi near the Fa Ham temple, stewed pork near the Chuang Puak gate and sausage and spices at the Warorot market. The Thai restaurant was also excellent - the salads were amazing and generous portions and the cafe had good coffee so we had the best of both worlds!

The hotel is 15 mins from the airport which is an added bonus for a long weekend - short commute from landing to sitting by the pool. The grounds were much nicer than the website pictures which is unusual. If you are looking for a luxurious stay with great food then I would highly recommend this place.

Room Tip: Requested a colonial suite room away from the pool and noise and we were upgraded to a corner deluxe room. Didn't book a villa as we had the pool to ourselves and didn't spend much time in the room - grounds were too nice!

This hotel is marvelous in every detail. It is very big, so you can walk around with borrowed bikes or ask someone to drive you in a buggy. Also has a great service. The staff is really nice and sympathetic.

We really loved our stay at the Dhara Dhevi. I had high expectations from the reviews on this site and we have also had friends stay. I couldn't really mark it down significantly, but there were a few things that surprised me when we got there that for me meant it was not perfect. The rooms are beautiful and huge, but in our room (grand colonial suite) there were cupboard doors that were broken. The taps all turn the wrong way and the light switches are annoying. Televisions are old and reception poor. Not big issues, but for me it did not have the overall feel I was expecting. The service was good, but it was not brilliant in places. There seems to be an expectation of tipping which I find annoying in hotels of this nature, especially when there is a 10% service charge added to every bill. I don't mind the tipping I just hate the hanging around waiting for it. I didn't get the impression that things were anticipated, for example we had a hotel car booked to the airport, but the bill was not ready and nobody had organised for luggage to be collected etc. Annoying as we were pressed for time. We ate in the Thai restaurant which was good, but lacking a little in atmosphere despite the dancing. I think perhaps they've toned the food down too much. We had better meals outside of the hotel around the night market. Much more fun. The concierge recommended a restaurant called Good View which was great, but they couldn't manage to get us a table and we had problems when we got there which had to involve a big tip to resolve. On the bright side the grounds really are magnificent. We loved riding around on our bikes which are complimentary from the fitness centre. The Spa was beautiful, although they could do with more comfortable pillows. The pools are excellent, but again service around the pools was mixed and some of the sunbeds were really quite dirty. We would go again because we loved the location so much, but it was a notch below what I was expecting. Perhaps my expectation were too high.

Be ready for a one of a Kind stay
Been there a while ago when the place was stil managed by Mandarin Oriental but I think it is better now with the time it has a special patina.

This Resort is a city by itself, everything you may think of is here for you:
Pool, garden or rice field villa, colonial style suites.

Restaurants well there are many options the Thai is very good featuring a daily dance of high quality, The French dining has top notch food, The Chinese has the best dim sum in town and delicious sulking pig.

The Cake shop managed by Fabrice the Belgian Pastry Chef has nothing to envy to Laduree or Pierre Herme, this is just wow -you must try the macaroons & Eclair there.

We stayed three nights and did not move from the resort as there are so many things to do, explore the grounds with amazing gardens & landscape manicured by the gardener team.
Fancy reading a book they have a library one could dream of, two difference pool + the one in your villa, authentic Lanna style village, a good gym which you might need after dining and some great shops in the shopping arcade, their spa is the size of a boutique hotel

I will be back for sure !

Thanks again for a lovely stay and experience
