We just love Chiang Mai and this hotel is great. It's not too big, each room has a modern asian style, that respects the atmosphere of the city.
It's very clean and the service, like in most places in Thailand, is very good.
You have a boutique on the second floor, where you can find goods from local designers, etc. I don't think that have a lot of interest, you can find as good and cheaper in the city.

Rachamankha reflects the detail and taste of the hotel's owner, from the magnificent Lanna style architecture and beautiful asian antiques, to the mixture of modern and traditional art throughout the hotel, and in each room. It is a feast for the visual senses. The staff is also a reflection of the high standards set by management, always available, but never intrusive. The restaurant now serves an individualized breakfast, as well as lunch and dinner. The choices of food ranges from Traditional Northern Thai to Western preparation, all done to perfection. We hope that you get to experience Chiang Mai, and this very special hotel, many times.

Room Tip: Rooms that we saw all about the same size and amenities. The suites are magnificent.

After a first fabulous stay at Rachamankha last june with my BF, i really wanted to show this very special property to my parents and we recently stayed for a couple of days in the huge suite up to the library. This new stay was maybe even better than the first one and we all loved every second spent in what i consider as the best hotel of Thailand and one of the finest and most intimate of the world.

No need to add anything about the exquisite taste of the designer. Each corner of this property is just an unforgettable moment for the eyes. It's full of fantastic pieces of antiques with modern paintings and the blend is just perfect. You'll feel easily at home in your accommodation and more especially if you choose the suite 26. An apartment of 100 sq. meters with a large terrace. The spacious living room is the most divine place for sharing a nice bottle of wine with friends and on both side is a bedroom. The master is bigger than a Jr Suite with a beautiful marble bathroom and if the second bedroom is smaller, you'll find the same comfort and this attention to detail so remarkable at Rachamankha. On the terrace are some day beds where it's so nice to relax and read a book and a pantry if you want to prepare a drink from the free minibar.

We really loved our stay not only for this incredible suite but for this very special atmosphere, very warm; the adorable staff who is doing the very best to make of your stay an unforgettable experience; all these beautiful flowers everywhere in the hotel; the delicious cuisine at the restaurant where the breakfast is so yummy and so well presented; the calm all around and all you can hear is the soft and bucolic noises of a pretty thai city and the perfect manager. Paul is really doing a wonderful job and he will always have a bit of time to talk to you and ensure your stay is as good as possible.

I'm truly a demanding customer and usually only think Amanresorts is capable to provide an experience you'll remember for lifetime but after staying two times at Rachamankha, i know Amanresorts has a challenger but it's not really a challenger actually cause Rachamankha is so affordable and it's just impressive for this level of excellence. This is maybe one of these secret hid dens you'd like to find more often but trust me, Rachamankha is unique and i hardly recommend anybody who loves beautiful things to go and enjoy.

Room Tip: Suite 26 is ike your own apartment and it's really private and intimate.

I have stayed at the Rachamankha many times and I have never been disappointed.

Everything about the hotel and grounds is perfection!

The accomdations are beautiful and clean; the gardens are perfectly maintained; the pool is pristine and peaceful; the food is probably the best in Chiang Mai; and, the staff is extremely helpful and kind.

If you are looking for a perfect place to stay in Chiang Mai, I would highly recommend staying at the Rachamankha. I know I will be back!

I travel frequently and extensively and can state - "that attention to detail gives rise to excellence". The Rachamankha, a small boutique hotel in Chiang Mai is a testament to the above. The beautiful, gracious buildings, comprising this "courtyard" style hotel are only surpassed by the many carefully selected pieces of furniture throughout the rooms and the hotel; the subtle pieces of art, the bonsai and, above all, the gracious and ever attentive staff. I stayed at the hotel with family members from around the world for a wedding last month and thoroughly enjoyed ALL aspects of my stay - from the quiet and beautifully furnished and decorated rooms, to the sanctuary of the library with free inter-net connection. The hotel basically comprises a series of coutyards lending themselves to very quiet rooms and "visual diversity". An un-obtrusive courtyard, for example, yields a swimming pool.
The Rachamankha is in a quiet back street; conveniently close to "The Old City" centre and reasonably close to the airport. The dining room and adjoining out-door courtyard provide a simple but excellent menu choice. The manager, Paul, and his staff, are like the hotel and its beautiful interior fittings and fixtures; devoted to attention to detail - the ingredient that makes the Rachamankha stand-out from so many of its hotel peers.
I would definetly recommend the Rachamankha to my friends and return for the special experience of being a guest in this lovely little hotel.

Room Tip: This hotel is excellent value for money - do not hesitate to ask for a premium room

I travelled to Chiang Mai for my brother's wedding in February 2012 and stayed at the delightful Rachamankha, at which his wedding ceremony and reception were also held. I have nothing but praise for hotel manager, Paul Walker, and his gracious, unobtrusive and highly attentive team of staff, all of whom waited on us hand and foot - literally! - for the week we had the privilege of staying at this charming boutique hotel.

Paul even went to the trouble of posting back some family photos I left at a digital photo shop for cheap copying, as they were not ready prior to our departure. This involved arranging postal packages to Australia and the US, but Paul offered to help me nonetheless at his own suggestion and nothing was too much effort for him. He's without a doubt the most polite, friendly and genuinely lovely hotel manager I have ever encountered in my many travels around the globe. I will definitely return to his wonderful hotel someday.

If you are looking for a hotel that offers some peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of your home city, or indeed beautiful Chiang Mai, look no further. I would describe this hotel as highly upmarket, 'old world' oasis. The rooms, hotel grounds and its carefully selected artworks ooze old-world grandeur, elegance and sophistication. The Rachamankha is full of many little hidden courtyards and quiet corners just waiting to be discovered, each of which is like its own little 'postcard shot' waiting to be taken (half the shots on my camera were of the wedding; the other half of the Rachamankha!).

My family and I had a truly wonderful stay. We were welcomed as if we were family and our whole end-to-end experience of this wonderful hotel was exceptional. I look forward to the day I am able to return to Chiang Mai and stay at the Rachamankha again.

Room Tip: Perhaps ask to be booked into a room away from the neighbouring property - the rooster starts crowin...

My husband and I had the privilege of spending a few days in Chiang Mai, and stayed at the Rachamankha. This is an absolutely beautiful hotel, and a delight to all the senses. Art and symmetry everywhere. Breakfast in the courtyard, with the fireplace going, was a delight, as it was in the evening for dinner. The food was superb, as was the service. Only wish was for some more comfortable seating in the bar area. A new internet system was installed while we were there - my only complaint had been the weak signal. No longer. Loved being able to just walk out the front of this bit of paradise and be right in the middle of old Chiang Mai. Highly recommend.
