Me and a friend needed a place to stay after decided to head to Chaing Mai and this place came up. We got in quite late but there was a guy who happily checked us in.
As it was so late we were a bit stuck for food and since this place was a little out of the way the only thing we could get was snacks from the nearby 7/11, only to discover the next day McDonalds delivered! The room itself was amazing, bed was comfortable and sizable for just myself. The next morning I relaxed with a coffee in the Thai sunshine with barely any noise. I would recommend this place to someone who wants to wind down for a few days.

We have stayed there for three nights and there haven't been many other guests. I think it depents on the fact that it has been low season in august. The pool and garden have been nice, room was also ok, but we had no warm water, just cold or hot. The service has been good, room clean up every day, friendly staff. They helped with renting a motorbike. But I wouldn 't book it with breakfast, at least if you like european breakfast... It was made with much oil, unfortunately just one fruit, no coffee.

The place is charming, and the few staff left (one chauffeur and two maids) are very kind and obliging. But I guess the owner is saving money during the low season, not appointing a full time receptionist, so I spent several times hanging for 10 minutes in an open front desk with no bell and just a phone number that is seldom attended. For this reason I would not quote it high in terms of "value for money" - it should be even cheaper!

We only stayed overnight at this boutique resort.
There is no restaurant but the balcony breakfast was very good. We selected the hotel because it is very close to Promanada Immigration office.
The setting is tranquil and the morning swim in the lovely pool was a good start to the day.
The room was clean and comfortable with a nice balcony overlooking the gardens and pool.
An artificial stream meanders through the property and is filled with Koi and local fish

We spent 5 nights here and cannot say enough about the charm and wonderful hospitality. As has been noted in other reviews, it is a 15 minute drive (although we walked) from the Old City they are more than to drop you in town day and night and it is easy and inexpensive to take a taxi or tuk tuk back. After the noise and bustle of the city, Rim Tara is a relaxing place to return in the evening. Breakfast was included and you have your choice between English and Thai - we chose the Thai and really enjoyed it. Breakfast is served in the garden or in your room. There is also a lovely pool which is refreshing in the Thailand heat. The staff is amazing and go above and beyond: they booked a number of tours for us and also offer free airport shuttles. For the money, you can't do better!
