“Nice average hotel in a good location.”
Reviewed 14 February 2014

Room was a little worn down and so was towels and sheets. That said everything was clean and the pool is nice. Restaurant is average at best but breakfast is OK. Location is close to the center and nightmarket but off the noisy ring road. Wifi in the room was poor but great outside in the garden and in the reception!

This is a very nice 3 star hotel that delivered above expectations. Booked on AGODA for about 2000 baht per night. 2500 baht walk in off the street. The hotel is located close to he east gate but off the main road and in a secluded little alley. It was extremely quiet but close to all the action. We had booked a couple days at this hotel and a few at another to get an experience in different parts of he city - should have booked the whole time at this hotel as we ended up leaving the other to come back and lost a coupe, nights prepaid at he other hotel. This hotel was half the price of he other and double the value. Great staff, decent breakfast, good clean rooms. Beds are firm like most Thai beds. Pool is an added bonus for relaxing outside when you have had enough of the city and just want to relax. I would highly recommend this place base on value and location.

Room Tip: Really all rooms look to be a good selection. We stayed in two different ones. Both good.

Karinthip village is a nice guesthouse just 2 minutes away from the downtown area of Chiangmai. The bathroom and the bedroom were basic. The walls were thin and we could hear our neighbors. We could enter our bedroom directly from the swimming pool area which meant that every time we opened our door some mosquitoes got in. The swimming pool area is nice and the staff is good and friendly. There are shops, cafes, bookstores and restaurants nearby. Breakfast was ok. I recommend this guesthouse to people in their twenties - early thirties.

The Pluses:
Pretty pool and grounds
Easy walk to the old city
Good wifi and cable with western channels
Clean

The Minuses
No hot water for bathroom sink
Shower does have “warm” water
( I realize some months, in Chinag Mai, the last thing anyone wants is a hot shower.)
Tiny room safe not big enough for computer or camera gear. Operates on AA batteries so I was wary of trusting it.
No hair dryer

If you want something different to a "hotel room", the Karinthip is certainly a venue to seriously consider. Just outside and to the East of the old walled city, it is an ideal location (about a 20 minute walk to the Night Market which has amazing bargains which you can barter for).
The accommodation is very comfortable (we stayed in one of the first floor rooms which have Chinese/Thai style furniture) and most importantly quiet. Some reviewers in "Booking.com" have commented on "hard beds" but for us, we found them firm but comfortable. The accommodation units enclose a lovely pool/garden area where you can sit and relax.
Bearing in mind the clientele who stay, the breakfast provided is both Asian and Western. If you are from Europe please do not expect a full blown European breakfast as you will be disappointed. It was however perfectly adequate and sets you up for the day ahead.
WIFI has good coverage though at the extremities of the site the signal can weaken. When packed with iPad, iPhone and Android users, the broadband offered can be challenged. For us again, on holiday, no problems. Staff were both friendly and helpful. Happy to recommend.

Room Tip: I would go for the first floor rooms. There are sitting areas overlooking the pool and garden.

We intended to for a few weeks but decided to stay on for a whole month longer. We feel at home here.
The staff are kind, capable, and friendly. The rooms are simple, very clean and some roomier than others. The food in the restaurant is varied, fresh and delicious.
The large swimming pool is beautiful and well maintained. The atmosphere around the hotel is lovely. and quiet. The neighborhood is quaint and safe, and within a ten minute walk to the old city and the big famous markets. Restaurants in the area, all within walking distance, are delicious and very cheap.
The hotel is directly across from a beautiful temple which is open to the public for meditation or just moments of total quiet and its possible to join local ladies doing tai chi bong sessions every afternoon.

Room Tip: For extended stay the suite is most livable and we could negotiate a lower rate.

We had a 4 night stay in January 2014 and overall I would say the hotel surpasted expectations fir what we paid. We booked at short notice and hotel is in a lovely quiet location with a very pretty pool which is perfect for relaxing after a day if sightseeing. The rooms were good but the bathrooms could do with updating.
