Chiang Mai cannot be considered a tranquil place!
Anantara is the perfect antidote.
We had a large room mad balcony with all one needs including a modest free mini bar. The staff were superb...could not do too much for us.
Dining, including breakfast,is in the beautiful old British Consulate...worth a visit in a city which has little feel of the past left.
When you do venture out the old city is about 15minutes walk...but you may soon wish to return!

We stayed in two hotels in Chiang Mai. This one made us feel like in heaven!

From the moment I went in for check-in, we did not need to queue up at the reception. The front desk lady came to us and allowed us to rest at the lobby sofa while she went to arrange everything for us.

We were lucky that we could early check in!! The front desk lady escorted us to our room. She explained every details of the room and hotel facilities, which we never experienced this before in any hotels anywhere!! This service is so impressive!!

The hotel is near to night market - just a few minutes walk. Our room is a bit far away from the market and so we can sleep well at night. I don't know what the hotel does to spell away the mosquitos... when I went to another hotel, there are so so many annoying & hungry mosquitos!!!! Anantara has done an excellent job!!

There are sufficient selection for breakfast and every type of food are carefully selected (again compared with another hotel). They are very very delicious and fresh!!

The front desk staff are always helpful to recommend restaurants outside the hotel.

Oh, we did try the spa & massage too. Though a bit pricey, they are really good to help us relax! The therapists really "listen" to where you want to focus to alleviate pain and tiredness.

Well, one little "bad" thing is - the water in swimming pool is freezing even the temperature is 28C!! We can't stay long in the pool...

We had a really comfortable and enjoyable stay here!!

Room Tip: Rooms near the swimming pool (or the Ping River) are quieter, but you will receive the welcome of su...

The "Chedi" Chiang Mai has been a favourite of ours for some time and, honestly, we feared the transition to Anantara. But we were wrong, under the very professional and "hands-on" guidance of the new GM, Nick Downing, a transition has never been better managed and our stay turned out to be simply fantastic, in every respect. The staff looks even more happy and dedicated than before, we could not find any fault, anywhere.
One of our most pleasant stays ever. We will visit again for sure. Thanks, congratulations.

Room Tip: Ask a room away from the street, it is a busy noisy one and some rooms are awfully close t it. The...

We upgraded our room to a river view suite and were not disappointed. Hotel service was excellent, public areas are stunning, breakfast faultless and all this within walking distance or a 100 baht (£2) tuk tuk ride of all the sights.

We went to the Anantara in December with our 3 kids. First of all the location is absolutely perfect to visit Chiang Mai. The hotel is gorgeous especially the lobby, the restaurant is really good and right on the river and the pool beautiful. The staff was super friendly and Nick, the manager of the hotel could not have been nicer to us. I had a bunch of questions/concerns that have been addressed immediately and with a big smile on top of it. The interior design is quiet beautiful and the room was very clean even though it could use a little refresh - nothing dramatic.

It's great. Probably the best hotel here, charming buildings, pleasant staff and with a lovely location on the banks of the river. The swimming pool is especially nice.

However, too many screaming children (at 7am, on more than one morning) and too many people on mobile phones by the pool. Management need to sort this out with some sort of policy, notices, etc, as I would think the overwhelming majority of their guests are here to relax. These two issues aside, the place would be perfectly tranquil.

Dear Pluto B

Thank you for sharing your comments about your recent experience at Anantara Chiang Mai and I am delighted to hear that you rank us so highly.

I would ageee (as you may have seen in some of my recent replies here) that this resort is designed more with couples in mind and certainly a great base to relax and recharge in the center of Chiang Mai. As such, I feel it was indeed a tad unfortunate that you were disturbed on this occasion as we generally do not have too many families at one time. I certainly apologise for any issue this caused at the time.

As for use of mobile phones, I regret to suggest that this may simply be part of modern life and hopefully most people have the courtesy to know when and when not to use them to refrain from disturbing others around them.

That being said, I do thank you again for sharing your feedback and we will always look at ways for how to provide an even better experience for all our guests in the future.

We certianly do hope to welcome you back one day.

Warm wishes

Dear Meralee G,

Thank you for sharing your five star review of your experience at Anantara Chiang Mai recently.

As someone who has experienced the hotel previously, you have definitely paid us a wonderful compliment and I share this with the entire team at Anantara Chiang Mai. Their committment to providing the highest levels of service remains as high as ever and it has been a pleasure to assist with the transition over the past few months.

I can only hope we have the chance to welcome you back time and time again in the future.

Thank you again.
