I did stay at this hotel recently - lovely, but I was charged for additional services that I did not authorize; I did not agree to pay US $438 for a 20 minute round trip car service to the airport. I will not stay at this chain again, in spite of the lovely setting.

Room Tip: Find another lovely hotel - there are lots of them

This property is absolutely gorgeous with an open-air lobby and candles floating in water every evening. The staff at the front desk, especially Poi and Gee, were friendly and helpful in planning day trips, giving directions and meeting our every need (e.g., we needed to borrow towels to take on our elephant adventure). We had the hotel arrange transportation for us from and to the airport. Although the airport is quite close (15 minute drive), it was nonetheless lovely to be greeted at the gate and taken care of in this manner. For 950 baht, I recommend this minor "extravagance."

The hotel breakfast is gorgeous and delicious. The restaurant at night is less pleasing with LED lighting over the tables and food that is a little disappointing. However, tapas and a drink on the veranda in the afternoon is truly special.

The rooms are clean and spacious with air conditioning and comfortable beds. The hotel is conveniently located to some lovely restaurants and the night market.

Dear happyrelaxeddudes

Thank you for wonderful feedback of your recent stay at Anantara Chiang Mai.

There is no doubt that the resort is well recognised internationally due to it's stunning architecture as well as it's personalised service. Needless to say, we are incredibly proud of the team here and their capacity to continually impress. Also I am delighted to know that you enjoyed our breakfast and I will certainly discuss your comments with the team as we are indeed currently reviewing all areas to see where we can lift to even higher levels.

As you correctly pointed out, we are close to all the action that the town has to offer with the Night Markets a simple stroll down the street. A nice counter balance to our own dining experience on the banks of the Ping River!

We truly appreciate the time you’ve taken to share your views about our luxurious riverside retreat. We look forward to welcoming you again in the future and to making your stay even more amazing in any way we can. Thank you again from your Anantara family in Chiang Mai!

Yours sincerely,

We've been to quite a few luxury places (The Hoshinoya and The Peninsula come to mind) and the Anantara Chiang Mai can be sure they are on our list of favourites as well. Beautiful design, very (very!) good service (even the General Manager came to welcome us to the hotel). The rooms are spacious -- we had some sort of suite which was 105 sq metres and beautifully decorated which also gave access to a private lounge with perfect snacks at happy hour (all complementary). Daybeds all over the place, balcony, walk-in closet, perfect bathroom, a huge bed and a choice of pillows that will assure a good night's rest. Fresh flowers, good food, and nice swimming pool with cool drinks complement the whole experience. I could go on and on about this place, but I'm trying to keep this review short: When in Chiang Mai, stay HERE. (It's not even expensive compared to similar high quality places in other parts of the world). O and the location... and the spa... and the perfect little omelet with sweet tomato garnish at breakfast....

Room Tip: Go for their high-end ones. They are more expensive of course, but soooo worth it.

We loved every moment of our stay at Anantara Chiang Mai. The hotel was really beautiful - very clean and zen. We loved our room - fourth floor river view suite + amazing balcony. We didn't get the breakfast buffet included although we should have since it's pricey a la carte. Nevertheless, it was delicious and offered everything from eggs to meat and cheeses. The location of the hotel was also perfect. We were able to walk around and through town even to old city even though it was a little scary walking across the street. Upon arrival they had made a mistake on our hotel booking rate but quickly amended it when we brought it to their attention. We were then offered a complimentary massage. We thought it would be a quick teaser but it was a legitimate massage at the spa. Drinks by the pool were also great after spending the day exploring Chiang Mai. They provided chips, nuts, cold face towels and more. Wish we had more time at the hotel!

Room Tip: River View Suite Room!

The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are really nice. You're down the road from shops, markets, restaurants and bars.
You're greeted at check in with a neck and shoulder massage and a refreshing drink.

We had breakfast included, which was very impressive. There was a big buffet but also food made to order such as eggs benedict and speciality omelettes.

The veranda was a beautiful place to enjoy happy hour or afternoon tea over looking the pool and reception. They provide you with nibbles and bug spray.

They initially gave us a ground floor room but we wanted something higher, so we could have a bit of a view. They happily obliged. The staff were very helpful, even lending us their laptop so we could look at the dvd of the elephant tour we had earlier on in the day.
The pool was lovely, with a drinks service too. They provide you with complimentary drinks and a refreshing face spray as well.

The whole place had a relaxing feel which is obviously what they were going for, very tranquil.

Except for breakfast, we didn't eat in their restaurant as there were so many amazing places to eat just around the corner (check trip advisor!)

The spa was very relaxing, quite pricey considering you're in the massage capitol of the world but you get what you pay for (and I don't mean what you're thinking!)

The rooms were beautiful with a large tub and shower. The bed is very comfortable and I would have had a great sleep if it wasn't for thousands of toads shouting on and off for hours early every single morning!
The hotel is next to a river which is where they're hiding and unfortunately as well as that, you get a lot of mosquitoes. As long as you use spray, you tend to get away fairly unscathed but it's inevitable.
Those are minor things and it wouldn't stop me from recommending this lovely hotel, just as long as you're not a light sleeper!

Room Tip: Get something off the ground floor so everyone isn't staring into your room from above! Bring...

Lovely place to chill and experience Chiang Mai. This was our second visit and this place is truly a perfect place to explore this area.
They need to put room no on the keys and the pool water needs to be refreshed as its to warm and to many chemicals.
But the food and the spa was perfect as was the service. The new executive chef made wonderful food. Definitely a place to come back too.

If there is something to complain about, I usually find it. Sadly, couldn't really do that here. One or two very minor issues that are not worth mentioning. Staff really impressed me. Very professional, polite and accommodating. Good English, too.

Kasara suite was pretty much as advertised, which is not always the case. Lounge was a nice touch with cocktails and great canapés.

No complaints about the food either. Breakfast was varied and good quality.

Overall, we had a great stay would have no problem recommending this hotel.
