“Dusit D2”

Stayed at the Dusit for 3 nights. It's not the cheapest hotel in town but reasonable. This is a departure from our usual international branded hotel like Shangri La, etc... Dusit is modern, trendy, clean, reasonable sized room and friendly service. Very close to night market. Cant comment on the meals as we didn't take any meals in the hotel.

Food.. Kalare Food court is directly across the road from Dusit. It's ok. Just don't try and find food there before 1pm. Most stalls are opened after 3pm. For good food, ambience and variety.. I'd highly recommend Goodview. it's by the riverside. It's walking distance or via a quick tuk-tuk ride. If you can, avoid eating at the restaurants near the night market. Although food is reasonable, it has touristy price to match. Wish I found Goodview on day 1

Forex ... Don't change at the airport. Walk out of Dusit to the main road. turn left and walk about 100m. Best rate I found for MYR to Baht.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor facing the main street. I've got a room facing the back... My view was a...

This is a very modern, quite trendy hotel, if you are looking for something with a Thai flavour this is definitely not for you. The staff are friendly, always helpful, but a bit forgetful at times, something you soon learn to live with in Northern Thailand. The rooms are on the small side, but very well appointed, the food is great. The big plus is the location, right across from the night market, and walking distance to the Old Town. The spa is also good value and great at the end of of hot and humid day out and about. We got a great deal on this hotel and the value for money was excellent. Highly recommended.

Funky design, especially for a place like Chiang Mai. Clean, a/c works, good breakfast buffet, in the heart of the night bazzar area. Service is outstanding. Concierge staff organised rental car and stay at the Elephant conservation centre. Chiang Mai can be tricky to get in and out of and the maps are often misleading. Staff reviewed my proposed route out of the city and saved me considerable aggravation. All at a price that can t be beat.

Stayed in this modern hotel for the first five days of our honeymoon this May. Our standard room on the fourth floor was quiet, clean and had a very pleasant temperature without needing to turn on the A/C. The shower head in the bath is very low, but otherwise all was perfect.

The staff were very pleasant and friendly, and breakfast was generous and pretty decent. We did have lunch a couple of times also, but the food while good was relatively expensive.

Other facilities: the gym was well equipped with cardio machines, weight machines, a smith machine and dumb bells - there is also a decent view from here as it is on the 10th floor. The pool was surprisingly quiet given the location of the hotel.

The location is the final important thing to mention - it is very well located for visiting Chiang Mai, and it was fantastic to be able to get into any tuk tuk or taxi and say "Dusit D2" and have them know where.

We have just had our 5th visit to D2 Chiang Mai, and again had a lovely stay, the staff are as eager to please you as ever, the food still great, the matress's still as firm as ever (even the requested softer one!), in fact a matress topper would probably be our only request to add to our stay here. Yes, they are going to need to start referbing the rooms soon & as some one else pointed out the couch has to be the most uncomfortable one ever invented but it still certainly did not detract from our pleasure in once again staying at D2. We were delighted to find that the Australian Chanell had been added so we could still get our Aussie rules weekly fix. We note some have said the pool is small, we think it is adequate & we always spend a lot of time relaxing there & more often than not either have it to ourselves or just a couple of other guests. Most of the staff have an amazing grasp of English, certainly miles more than our Thai. We will be back I am sure.

We booked in at D2 in a suite for our honeymoon and we were both blown away by the quality of service and facilities. I got the distinct feeling that the Dusit D2 team were really trying to make their hotel stand out by making the simple things easy. Eg free wifi in your room (rather than adding another little sneaky charge and making things complicated) as well as free drinking water in the room.

The location is also great, you are literally right next to the night markets. I did not notice any noisiness as a result, just convenient access to markets and food each night - no excuses for not going out since it was such a short walk to get back to the hotel.

The suite itself was fantastic, well appointed with clean modern styling. It was really a lovely treat to enjoy a suite rather than a room as the bathroom was huge, there was a lounge and desk room and also a rather large dressing room/wardrobe. The service was outstanding, there was nothing too much to ask. The staff spoke excellent English (making up for my entirely non-existent Thai) and helped us book onto several day trips including Patara Day with an Elephant (see other reviews) and also a golf trip to Highlands golf course (excellent also!).

There were plenty of charming touches, at risk of ruining the surprise for future guests we received a little present in room each night as well as fortune cookies as part of the turndown service.

We can also recommend the club lounge upgrade to access the lounge area, which also included breakfast. The breakfast was fabulous, fresh and tasty. The afternoon drinks and snacks were a blessing also, giving us enough energy and a nice little break before heading out to explore more of Chiang Mai's delights.

I would not hesitate to stay here again, I wish that such good value, quality hotels were more common!

Room Tip: Definitely upgrade to include club lounge access and/or suite if it is a special occassion, was defi...

This hotel is well located, although a bit hard to find (down a side street near the main street). Its a very short walk to the night bazaar, which is basically the "downtown" of chiang mai.

The staff were very good.

The lobby is very modern and funky. I was impressed.

The rooms are OK, not as good as the lobby would suggest. The view from my window was the car park next door.

The TV was WAY too small for a five star hotel.

Breakfast was quite good.
