“Charming, Comfortable,Excellent Location”
Reviewed 18 November 2011

We stayed at Yang Come Village for 4 nights. The staff is very attentive. The location is excellent with being in walking distance of most attractions downtown and adjacent to a very good restaurant. In addition, their breakfast was very good, with many choices and a very charming patio on which to dine.

i've been staying for 2 weeks in yaang come village. i really appreciate to hotel staff who were treated us with the sincere kindly manner all the time. i almost see thestaff member's smile all the time. thank you. in more specific, the hotel is placed in just 3minites away with walking distance from night bazar, so we've never felt inconvenient to travel there. the hotel is in fact nearby big street but couldn't be bothered with any noise at all because it is surrounded by big garden itself. anyways i really enjoyed staying in yaang come village, so i will highly recommend to others who want quiet place to stay as well as convenient spot to go anywhere.

Yaang Come Village is a spectacular Lana Style Inn with old country charm. The pool is wonderful, the breakfast was delicious and more than adequate. The property is nestled in a jungle atmosphere almost in the center of activity on Chiang Mai. Walk to the night bazaar! Only issue to be aware of is the surrounding 'hood is slightly seedy at night. There are a few "karaoke" bars on the street and some evidence of "oldest profession" workers thereabouts. You can gloss past this but keep the kids away from seeing this stuff if possible. The staff couldn't' have been more accommodating and they went out of their way to make us feel welcome. One night they sprayed the grounds for mosquitos and warned us ahead to stay in our room or stay away until after they were done. I strongly recommend that you leave the campus for the duration of these insect treatments. They "bomb" the entire campus and the spray does permeate into the rooms and could really affect anyone with any respiratory problems.
These are only a few blemishes on an otherwise remarkable property. I would stay here again without any doubts!!

Room Tip: We had two rooms for our family of five, king size bed rooms next to each other. Really no bad rooms...

After spending 2 nights at another fancy hotel, we felt like we were not getting a real "feel" for Chiang Mai and went to find another place to stay. We happened upon Yaang Come which was kind of tucked away behind a restaurant (which turned out to be an amazing one at that). When we got there we were greeted by the friendliest staff and shown one of the rooms. The grounds make you feel like you are in a tropical paradise that also feels very Thai traditional. The room was so great and loved the little balcony, along with everything else about the room. We immediately booked the room for the rest of our visit (about a week). It was THE BEST choice we made. Staying there made the rest of trip such a joy! The staff, the place, the help they gave us in all our extra activities, the breakfast each day were just above and beyond! The people that stayed there were from all over the world and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly with the guests as well. The location is great too because you are very close to the night market and temples, etc. I miss the very lovely and knowledgable staff - what terrific people. I can't wait to go back one day and I will never stay anywhere else but here!

Room Tip: We looked over the courtyard without the pool - liked that but I am sure any area is just fine.

Overall Yaang Come is a lovely hotel: quiet, great food, lovely grounds, extremely pleasant people. Here are the pros and cons:

Pros
-very close to the Night Market (didn't matter to us as the Night Market was flooded out)
-property is lovely: clean pool, orchids planted into tree boughs, open-air feel
-staff is very polite and try very hard
-rooms are spacious with large bathrooms. Free water bottles every day and the usual bathroom amenities. Pretty flowers are placed as finishing touches everywhere.
-held our suitcases for us when we stayed overnight at the elephant park

Cons
-2nd room we were placed in smelled a little musty
-we were given bug zappers (not a great sign, they had mosquitoes)
-we were there during a huge flood in the city. While we declined their offer to move to a hotel not in the flood zone (the water only went up to the steps and they drove us to the water line every time we wanted to leave the hotel) a free massage, free poolside drink, or other declaration of thanks from them would have been nice.

Liked the quiet "Thai Village" atmosphere - set back from the road, but only a short walk to nearby night markets and restaurants.
Pool was beautifully warm and nice to sit beside on the deckchairs.
Enjoyed the breakfasts, sitting outside near the huge Yaang tree (keep an eye open for cute squirrels!).
Room was comfortably big for the 4 of us.
Staff were always smiling and ready with our room key as we arrived back from outings.
Only problem was a mix-up with beds not set up for children when we arrived, but this was quickly sorted out. Also, had to pay extra for them compared to what the booking site had indicated (not Yaang Come's site, but a 3rd party booking site).
Overall we were very happy, with many little extras like the free bus to the airport, fresh fruit and bottled water each day, robes and slippers, free Internet, etc.

Room Tip: We liked being near the pool - only a few steps away
