What is especially beautiful about this place is the Khmer style central structure with intricate carvings. The surrounding grounds were also stunning and there is a large Maha Bodhi Tree (planted in 1455) with hundreds of contributed "support" poles - lots of history to read about here! The rest of the grounds are stunning and worth spending some time there.

Expect to spend about an hour here as there are so many beautiful temples on well kept grounds. Some of the most stunning features are the massive ancient trees, all adorned with sashes. We came after the monsoon season so everything was covered in moss and super green and clean. Well worth a visit

This wat is not one of the most visited ones by tourists, it is kinda set aside near MAYA, it is very quiet, there were only a handful of people there when we arrived, but it was also late in the afternoon.

Wat Jet Yod (meaning the temple of seven towers) is one of the best temples in Chiang Mai. Dating back to the 15th century, it is one not only ancient but also very beautiful and this one would be a delight to photographers.

The main temple/vihara here is a 15th century imitation of the famous Buddhist temple of Bodhagaya in India, which is said to be the place where the Buddha attained enlightenment. It has wonderful laterite towers but the real treasure is the exquisite stucco work on the exterior of the temple. It is a miracle how crisply it has survived. The Buddhas are extremely beautiful, as is some of the floral decoration.

The other major site is a huge funerary chedi of a 15th century king. We were impressed by the monumentality of this chedi and also its excellent state of preservation. It is also worth checking out the unusual Mucalinda Pond near the exit gate, as well as its accompanying mondop.
