Upon requesting a front wing junior suite, Opas (the owner) recommended that we opt for the slightly more expensive rear junior suite. Absolutely the right decision - it was wonderful, tranquil and beautifully furnished with dark wooden furniture and a 4-poster bed. We booked to stay for 5 nights - we were due to get a sleeper train back to Bangkok but we decided to get our ticket part-refunded on our last day to stay an extra night! Worth every penny ;o)
The staff were lovely and friendly, the breakfasts were lovely too and it was great that they served up to 10.15 - the 15mins came in handy for us lazy-bones!
The positioning was great, just across the river but only a 15-20 mins walk to the old town. Very handy also that most of the recommended night-time entertainment places were on the same road just a few minutes walk away - namely The Riverside, The Good View and The Brasserie, all open late!
One tip - but super-strength mozzie repellent - they are around all day long due to the amount of greenery and basic repellent didn't do the trick for our first few days! Not sure if they say on the website, but wifi is free throughout and is available from 8am to 8.30pm, and they have a computer room if you don't have your own with you.
Stepping through the little wooden gate off the road into the ground of the Baan Orapin was like entering a different world, one we can't wait to return to.
