Another year and another visit to Puripunn. This is a great Boutique hotel, quiet but within walking distance of the centre. The staff as always were friendly, happy and very attentive. Nothing is too much trouble and most speak very good English.Service is excellent and the court yard setting is a welcome relief from the busy City.We love it here. The best in Chiang Mai for us.

We had the best time at the Puripunn Baby Grand Hotel on our 26th Wedding Anniversary! Our stay was luxurious and the setting was perfect. The staff were lovely and catered for our every need, nothing was too much. It's no wonder that it won "Luxury Romantic Hotel: Thailand" at the 2012 World Luxury Hotel Awards, it is that good! Whether going out in Chiang Mai or staying in the hotel it was the perfect place to celebrate our Anniversary!

Room Tip: As the hotel is off the main road, the whole place is incredibly quiet. The hotel has been designed...

Beautiful boutique style hotel just outside of Chiang Mai. Lovely service from the staff who were flexible with us regarding a late check-out. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the option of a ceiling fan as well as aircon is great. Would definitely come back again.

Gorgeous small boutique hotel, just the other side of the river from the main part of Chiang Mai. The location is actually pretty good, as it's extremely peaceful, and at worst a fifteen minute safe walk from Chiang Mai's attractions, plus the hotel has a free Tuk Tuk service, and it's easy to flag down the 'buses' in town and get back for very little money.

The rooms are incredibly luxurious, all set around the beautiful pool area. The breakfast was wonderful, in an incredible courtyard setting. On our second morning, the owner came round to each table to say hello (which is always a sign of a well-run hotel), and we had to congratulate him on his lovely hotel. Met some other people who'd been staying there for years, and we could see why.

The Puripunn is a delight. It is centrally located by the river about ten minutes walk from the night market. It is a short walk from there into the old walled city. It is hidden away from the main roads on a quiet little alley and as you first arrive through the hotel gates into the central courtyard you immediately know you're onto a good thing. The hotel overlooks the formal courtyard which contains a beautiful pool lined with gray blue slate tiles. Plants and trees crowd the edges of the pool, the air is alive with the sounds of birds and other wildlife. Decking is placed behind a wall that subdivides the courtyard affording those wishing to swim and relax by the pool some privacy and the space never feels overlooked or crowded.

The rooms are spacious and finished to a high standard, with dark wooden floors and sumptuous fabrics complimenting the muted lighting. The bathroom had a lovely raised couch and a separate walk in shower lined with exquisite saffron coloured tiles. We had a little balcony with a sofa and an chair and I could have happily sat there for a couple of days ignoring the myriad delights of Chiang Mai.

The staff are charming, helpful, funny and polite and speak very good English. The food they served for breakfast was delicious although I never managed dinner in the hotel so I can't comment but one suspects it would have been pretty good.

Lastly if you have any interest in animals and you are in the city for a couple of days ask the staff to organise a day up at Elephant Nature Park. It is a rescue centre for elephants used in Thailand's now defunct logging trade. You will find yourself inspired, moved, delighted and awestruck in equal measure. You can wash the elephants, hand-feed the elephants, walk with the elephants and unlike most of the elephant parks locally your money is helping these creatures rather than exploiting them. It is a magnificent venture. It also features a dog that launches itself at a projection screen when it sees film of other dogs...this sounds ridiculous given that you are there to see elephants but it is very, very funny.

Very charming, tranquil oasis in bustling Chiang Mai. To get a feel for the look of the place, picture The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel in the movie - only far better run, with everything in tiptop working order. Staff are very welcoming and efficient and a nice touch is that they wear a different-colour uniform each day. Restaurant staff are particularly friendly and enjoy chatting in English.

Such a nice place, great room, friendly staff, amazing building and a lovely pool. Our room was so nice we left feeling like we'd utterly wasted it by going out and seeing so much of Chiang Mai - we'd have happily installed ourselves in the room and stayed in!

They'd also made an extra effort at Christmas - it was decorated enough it felt Christmassy without overdoing it. I'd go back again if in that part of the world!
