“Amazing Hotel with a real sense of Calm”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 March 2010

The Baby Grand Puripunn is a truly wonderful hotel, with a real sense of calm and tranquility. Everytime I returned to the hotel, the twinkly lights and chimes made me feel relaxed especially after trying to cross the roads!!! The staff are attentive and friendly, the owner Khun Att made time to meet his guests which all adds to the personal touch.
I upgraded to the Puripunn Deluxe room which had an amazing bathroom - massive bathtub and rainshower and the bedroom was spacious. The food in Chiang Mai is the best in Thailand and this was the case at the hotel - from breakfasts to dinner, the food is extremely tasty.
The hotel is in a great location, walking distance to restaurants, the Night Bazaar and the Sunday walking market. The hotel has a tuk tuk which takes you to the Night Bazaar if you don't fancy walking and getting a tuk tuk to take you back is easy and cheap. I found the shopping at the Sunday walking market better than the Night Bazaar as there were more handmade crafts and authentic products but the Night Bazaar is great and lively. The street food is wonderful and not to be missed - quails eggs, bbq sticks of pork........ Massages are everywhere but if you want a spa like experience, try Lets Relax in the Night Bazaar near McDonalds, bit pricier than the street massages but it felt like a true spa. Also whilst in Chiang Mai, do try the fish spa where garra fish nibble at the dead skin on your feet - weird but wonderful. If you fancy watching live Muay Thai boxing, there's a gym walking distance from the hotel which has fights on a Friday night - another experience to add to your list.

All in all the Baby Grand Puripunn is a truly wonderful hotel, i can't wait to go back.

I don't know where to start! Our experience was flawless. The friendly, helpful and very professional staff went above and beyond the call of duty to make our stay not just pleasant but an absolute joy.

The hotel its-self is modern but the decor, especially the rooms, are beautiful and quaint, traditional Thai design with a touch of provencial manor-house. It was easy to forget that I was in a modern hotel. The pool has the feel of a sanctuary and the restaurant gives you the feeling of Thai Provencial dining at its finest.

The breakfast buffet is more than sufficient for nearly every taste, including made-to-order omlettes and waffles, but the selection of fresh, local fruits is the real star. I've never in my life had such good papayas!

I explained my list of food allergies to one of the staff when inquiring about the restaurant. She wrote down my list in Thai script, so that I could present it at any restaurant. That little courtesy made all of my dining, all over Thailand, easier than if I were in an English-Speaking country.

The bathrooms are clean, and nicely decorated, again with a bit of French provencial flair. The bathroom has a bathtub with shower and an old fashioned shower curtain, brass fixtures and a cradle for the shower head that resembles an old fashioned telephone. It's very quaint, but for those who don't recall such old-fashioned things as a shower curtain, you should remember to use a little common sense and do not to leave your clothes on the floor or close to the edges of the curtain. And after a day of adventuring or seeing the old city, it is a very satisfying shower!

During my stay at Chiang Mai, I purchased a rather large wooden and bronze item at the night bazaar. The hotel staff helped me arrange shipping to get it back to New Zealand, calling various shipping companies to compare prices, and helped us locate professional packing.

The wireless internet is solid, secure and works well enough for whatever I needed.

I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea. This place is a gem of luxury, hospitality, comfort, design and most of all, service.

The place is conveniently located near the heart of Chiangmai. I was very impressed the minute I walked past the front gate. I enjoyed the time there and decided to spend a nice quiet afternoon in the hotel rather than going up Doi Suthep as originally planned. We took lots of photos for ideas to decorate our home. Yes it is THAT nice.

This hotel is perfect for a relaxing holiday but close enough to the action so that we didn't miss out on anything. Check in was quick and the welcome drinks delicious. We stayed in a Puripunn delux room, it was spacious clean, comfortable, not to mention very private with pool view as do all the rooms, they also have their own outside sitting area. All the staff go above and beyond in providing excellent service. They are truely a credit to the hotels owner who introduced himself to us on our last day. The free tuk tuk transfers to night bazaar, Sunday markets and to Scorpion River Cruise was greatly appreciated. It would be very difficult to find any fault with this hotel. Just perfect. Thank you Puripunn

The hotel is a model of good service and care. All staff make you feel most welcome and the facilities are wonderfully designed by the owner to create a haven of tranquillity so near to the river. The restaurant provided the best food experienced in our three week tour of Thailand, the quality of produce and presentation gave wonderful layers of taste. It is probably the best hotel of its type that I have stayed in anywhere in the world. This is a gem to discover!

My family and I stayed in Chiang Mai for 3 nights. We decided to stay at the Puripunn Baby Grand Hotel based off the feedback I read on Trip Advisor. The moment we stepped on the property I was amazed. This hotel is beautiful and the rooms were so cute. Its a small boutique hotel and the staff really pay attention to all the guests needs. Its like they already knew who we were before we checked in. The front desk arranged all of our tours (including a cooking class).

We also loved the location of the hotel. It is located in a residential area which to us was good. It was quite and we were able to relax a bit (we arrived in Chiang Mai after touring Bangkok.. so we definitely needed some quite time). The night market is a short drive (and the hotel offered complimentary tuk tuk service to the night market).

The service was impeccable. The staff always had a smile on their face. I would return to this hotel because of the service we received here. We had an amazing time at the Puripunn!

We had an excellent stay At the Puripunn.
It is very calm, the service is very good, people are very kind.
Rooms are maybe not very bright but it is fine, the pool is very nice and fresh. It is close to the city but you don't have the noise so it is the perfect retreat.
