We loved staying at Lanna Mantra, especially as we had just left a much more expensive hotel in Chiang Mai because it was so awful!
As soon as we arrived here and were welcomed by the friendliest staff in town our stresses dropped away. The hotel and grounds are tranquil, beautiful and relaxing so we had that away-from-it-all holiday feeling, but were still in an ideal location for exploring Chiang Mai.
LM is on the edge of town so it's easy to reach the shops, markets and attractions, made even easier by the free boat and shuttle service that the hotel runs. Then at the end of the day you can return home to perfect peace on the riverside.
Our room had a pool/river view and it's definitely worth paying the little bit extra for these as they are quietest, although the pond is lovely too. Room itself great, bathroom fine and view gorgeous. Pool area is very pleasant, overloooking the river, and the food we had from the little restaurant was great too. Hotel and grounds spotless throughout and the service we had could not be beaten. The staff looked after us so well, and were thoughtful and resourceful when booking quality excursions, drivers and an in-room massage. They even loaned me their bicycle to nip to the shop! They made our stay extra special. I would definitely recommend the hotel and would come back myself.

Beautiful hotel just outside the old town, riverside. Beautiful garden setting riverside restaurant and pool. Great staff. Free shuttle bus in the evening and boat service in the morning.

This hotel is located outside of the city and takes about 30 minutes to get into town. The staff was extremely helpful in getting outside transportation (taxi driver to the temple, elephant camp). Pool was gorgeous and well-kept, great sunning area near the river. Food at the river bar/restaurant was okay; breakfasts were great. Overall, I'd stay there again.

We stayed in the Lanna Mantra the night before and the night after doing a hilltribe trek. It's an oasis of calm (especially after 2 nights in the jungle!).

All the rooms are really well appointed - so whether you are facing the pond or the pool / river, the rooms are great. We stayed at the Lanna Mantra as we didn't want to stay in a concrete block in the city centre, admittedly it's a few extra Bahts in a taxi but it's well worth it. The only negative is if you want to walk to a restaurant in the eve, you can't.

The staff are super friendly. They can't do enough for you. One evening the receptionist couldn't find the key to the (free) scooter that they lend out to guests, so she offered us her own. Hello?? How nice!!

After staying in a plush Bangkok hotel, the only difference would be the food. It's home cooked food, so for breakfast rather than having an extensive buffet, they cook your bacon and eggs in the back for you - but it feels really personal.

There is a well maintained pool and there is (a little bit of) gym equipment that you can use, free wi-fi in the foyer (not the room though), so they have everything that you could need. This is not a big swanky place, but a low-key authentic and personal hotel. Loved it!

We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of May and loved every minute of it. The rooms were immaculate and spacious - we had a deluxe family room with 2 big beds. The bathroom was very clean with both a bath and shower separate - great when you have little kids. The breakfasts buffet had a great selection of everything as well as a coffee machine that made great coffee. We had a view from our verandah of the infinity-edge swimming pool overlooking the Ping River. It was nice to come back to in the evening and sit outside to relax with a drink. The staff were great helping us to book tours. We utilised the free boat in the am and car into town every evening. A Tuktuk generally cost us 80-100 baht return in the evening as it is outside city centre but we found that we really enjoyed being out of town near the river. Just down the road is a lovely lady who has a really cheap laundry (turn left and walk to the first row of shops - about 5 mins). The in room bar prices were reasonable. There is free wifi throughout the hotel for guests. The airport transfer service is useful and cost us 200 baht. It was very quiet when we were there and we were pretty much the only ones staying there so the restaurant was closed at all the times apart form breakfast. The kids loved the pool and there were always pool towels available for us to use as well as a shower and change room for afterwards. We loved everything about this hotel and would happily go back - it was one of the best places we stayed during our time in Thailand.
