“Great value for money! Central location!”
Reviewed 28 May 2013

We had a great stay here at Tri Gong. The owner and his family are very friendly and helpful. We rented a motorbike and parked it inside the gate without any problem. Also used kitchen facilities to heat up some leftovers. All very convenient.
The room is basic, but has everything you need... TV, small desk, wifi, bathroom with shower. No complaints!
Would suggest trying the Thai Farm Cooking class (the office is just around the corner from TriGong) as well as renting a motorbike and going up to Doi Suthep temple. I would avoid the 1/2 day elephant experience.... go for the full day and go to the conservation park which treats the elephants much better.

Went with all the TA reviews and service was good! However we checked out immediately as there's no safety deposit box and the toilet was pretty gross. See photos. We went to a place 1km away that had breakfast included too for 100 bht more. Don't really get what the hype is. This place is average in my books.

6th or 7th time here , an amazing place with with very friendly owners , Adam and Duey always on hand to give advice.....free wi-fi here and also has to computers free to use in the reception.
I have traveled to Thailand 60 times plus and would honestly say this guest house is the best I have stayed in for value, comfort, and location....

Room has everything you need , and you are close by everything , great little places to eat all within close proximity....

Stayed in February, 2013 and was treated like a family member. A very pleasant stay was had with all systems run smoothly. We were there a week and felt the place was safer as time progressed through our stay. Certainly better than the crowded tourist areas down south. If one makes the effort to interact and get to know the staff they respond with great warmth and guidance.
It was very quiet and cleaning staff were appreciative of guests privacy.
Plenty of public transport and banking facilities just a short walk down the street.
The weather was magic at this time of year.
The kitchen that guests can use was well stocked with every utensil imaginable. The staff will even help you cook when not busy.
We thought it was good value for money at that time of year.
The rooms are very cosy and would benefit with the addition of individual room safes although as said before, the place seemed very secure. The rooms were cleaned daily to a high standard.
Adam, the owner, helped us plan our walks and advised on best eating establishments in the area.
I'd definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Don't be shy to make your requirements known. They make every effort to make guests happy.

I had an awesome, positive experience during my 3-night stay at Tri Gong Residence in February 2013! For the price, I had a spacious, air-conditioned, clean room. It was walking distance to many bars, restaurants and markets. Adam, the owner, was wonderful. He was friendly and helpful. I had to go to the post office to send a package of items and since he was giving a ride to a couple who needed to go to the dentist, he offered me a drive, which was great because it was so humid. It was an act of kindness that I appreciate and will remember. I would definitely go back to Tri Gong Residence!

Compared with the hotel we stayed in Nan, this place is grossly overpriced and the rooms are tired and dirty. It is well located and the owners are friendly, but it should be about half this price. There has to be better value in Chiang Mai but sadly we only stayed 2 nights and didn't look.

It's a little hard to understand why Tri Gong has so good reviews. Sure, it's not a bad place but... The rooms are furnished in cheap Lanna style: they are not disagreeable but 700 bahts is too much for a small and dark one. There is a balcony with a chair, but it is closed by a grid: ok to smoke a cigarette without leaving the room, nothing more. In the bathroom, the water pressure is on the low side but sure, you can take a shower. There is a big refrigerator and also a tv, but there are few channels and for a westerner very very few interesting one: many cheaper places in Thailand have more interesting channels, here it's disappointing.

There is a courtyard with tables and two horrible Bangkok Bank parasols: useful but nothing charming. The guest house is in L with a ground floor and a 1st floor and the owners house is inside the L. Dam, the manager and his son are friendly - however Dan is sometimes unpredictable - speak a good English and are more well educated than average owners in Thailand. The guest house provides free coffee and free water. There is also two free computers in the lobby and free wi-fi in the rooms and by the way Tri Gong has the best wifi we use in Thailand, fast and reliable and if there is a problem, the owners deal with it quickly.

During our stay we sleep in two different rooms: the first one was close the lobby and was very noisy, due to the proximity both with the lobby but also the bars in the street (loudly music until 1 am): we cannot sleep early and on the morning we were awakened before 7 am by the owner boys chatting and moving bicycle in front of our room. So we asked for another room far from the lobby. It was better, but one night we have been awakened by one boy making a phone call in the courtyard at 3 am, another night we have been awakened again because at 2 am, some young boys were using the outdoor kitchen in the courtyard: as each time we see these people go back into the owner house, there is no doubt there were not customers. The last day, as we were tired, in the afternoon we tried to relax in our room, but the loudly sound of a tv coming from the owner house - despite our window was closed - completely ruined our rest.
