We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was luxuriously appointed - massive bed with a nice firm mattress. We were allowed to checkin early at 9am and spent the rest of the day fast asleep! All the staff were helpful and polite. There weren't too many guests so our mid afternoon retreats to the pool were peaceful. As for the spa, we tried yoga (complimentary) - 1 of the sessions was just us & the instructor. The 2 hour thai massage was fantastic and worthwhile, even compared to the much cheaper options in town (just make sure you get a massage room away from the street). Lastly we tried the brand new onsen - very good but probably best in the cool of early morn / evening

Stayed there three times, triple satisfaction. Been to Chiangmai for golf four to five times a year, tried many different rating hotels and Rarinjinda is preferred, especially a must visit for visitors, the professionally run Wellness Spa. Foot Massage is recommended, more than what you paid elsewhere but the experience is worth trying. Twice upgraded to Pool Access room (only 7 rooms), open the door and access the pool, simply relaxing. The only two con are the band noise from Riverside / Good View Restaurant across the road, and the hotel restaurant Deck-One, one need to cross the road, if in-hotel, that would be a plus. The hotel is smoke-free and complimentary free Wi-Fi access in room, not even other pricey hotel in Chiangmai offered this.

Room Tip: Top level corner room, and Pool Access room

Highly recommended for base camp in Chiang Mai. We walked to the night market along the river and into the the inner city a few times and there'a night life and more restaurants a few blocks away. As some other reviewers said, it could use a few tweaks before it makes 5 stars, but it's a decent value as it is. Staff was helpful, rooms were comfy if a bit noisy if you're too close to the road. It's a bit of a stretch for to really consider it as a resort experience, but it's not priced as one either.

Room Tip: Aim for the rear or pool access.

We liked everything about Hotel. The location was far enough from the super busy area but close enough (only 100 BHT ride). If you don't put on the AC you will hear the music. Not a big deal. Everyone at the resort staff was very helpful. Breakfast (very delicious buffet) is right across the street in a restaurant on the river. Crossing the street is fine (just like a busy street in a large metro area). They do have crossing guards to help you. The staff help with Tuk Tuk's. Would stay again in a heart-beat!

A couple tips for Chiang Mai (better you get this in a unified location):
1) use a local tour service (Mundo Tour service with Kid was very good. Mr. Kid was a former monk and knew lots about the area. We got so much more out of a temple visit with his experience)
2) Don't talk to the worthless middle aged men outside the temples. They will approach you/follow you trying to sell you a Men's suit.
3) Don't buy a SIM card at 7-11. Go to the brand new Maya Mall. They have every vendor there who speaks fluent English. Also a great place to see a open-concept mall with high quality goods. Very close to the University and cool shops.

I really enjoyed my stay at Rarinjinda - it's a serene setting in a heritage building with lovely gardens, water features and cool touches such as antique furniture. The room was generously sized, and I deliberately picked a pool access room as a keen swimmer - mostly had the pool to myself as the water was pretty cold! It was my birthday during my stay and I thought staff had forgotten but they presented me with a little cake two days later - they'd wanted to give it to me in person and we'd been out of the room.

There are a few minor annoyances: the hotel is almost directly opposite the Riverside, one of Chiang Mai's biggest nightspots, and the live music could be heard from the room. There are also several other lively nightspots opposite the hotel. Great if you're partying, not so great if you're trying to sleep. It's also situated on a busy road, so crossing it is a little hairy - altho staff will stop traffic and help you cross. In addition, it was a shame the spa was so expensive - massages ran into thousands of baht - but you can get a really good one for 300 baht in Chiang Mai. Even the 150 baht places are good.

Service was good but could have been better - we asked about hiring bikes and were given a vague response about going into town where we would find some places we could hire them. It felt like the concierge was just there to book the trips but I think they could have been more helpful and knowledgable with such queries. Ditto booking a taxi - we were advised to just wave down a tuk tuk but wanted a metered taxi as the air pollution was quite bad and my husband suffers from asthma. On the other hand, the staff in the restaurant were really helpful and picked out some magazines for me to read one morning, which was a nice touch. The breakfast buffet was okay but not totally inspiring - tho you can sit outside by the river, which is pleasant. Best thing was the banana muffins - don't miss if you see them!

With more attention to detail on service and a better buffet spread, this hotel could be fantastic rather than just very good. Having said that, I felt it offered value for money (except the spa services) and I would definitely stay again.

This is a really wonderful boutique hotel. Staff was very kind. Great service. My room was very comfortable and the property is very well kept. I was upgraded upon arrival to a Deluxe pool access room. These rooms are great. I would highly recommend this type of room. The location of the hotel is great also. Walking distance to the night markets. Deck 1 restaurant had a very solid menu, tasty food and great service. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Deluxe Pool Access room is the way to go!
