“Pure Indulgence”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 May 2012

I stayed at Ratilanna Riverside Spa Resort (Chiang Mai) for 2 nights from 22 to 24 May 12. The resort was ... WoW. Starting from the reception, I was checked in within minutes upon arrival. The staff was very helpful and friendly throughout my stay in the resort. The room was another pleasant surprise - the bedroom was more than large enough for 2; the washroom had a very nice bathtub (and you can watch TV as you relaxed in the tub); the balcony had a sofa-bed where you could chill the night away. Every morning at 0730am, there is an alm-giving at the riverside jetty; a monk will row his boat over for the ceremony (please check exact timing from the hotel staff) - very meaningful. The spa services were also very decent; breakfast wasn't a huge spread but delightful enough.

Thanks for the hospitality.

We stayed at this hotel for the recent Songkran festival in Chiang Mai. It is nice, but needs a lot of focus on service and the soft touches to raise the bar to five star. The room is spacious and nice - but the bathroom needs some tlc - the shower in particular, which looks in need of a renovation.

Food was only so-so - the breakfast is limited and boring and the staff don't help - they need to be more proactive - or at least remember you from day to day. We also ate in the Brazilian for the touted special all you can eat dinner - this was not great and we regretted no going elsewhere for dinner (so much choice in Chang Mai - why stay in your hotel??) - the all you could eat meat was served one piece at time and slowly...

Location-wise it was a bit off the main area - so next time for sure we would consider staying in town to enjoy both a great location, and potentially better service and quality - or we choose something well out of the city to get the true feeling of Chang Mai's beauty.

Lovely hotel, a little out of town but within walking distance of the old city or 100 baht in a tuk tuk, luxurious rooms, nice brekky area, tv and water feature in bathroom, separate shower. was the perfect start to our holiday, situated on the Ping River

Room Tip: Dont book a room around the pool, they do functions which are either around the pool area or on the...

Its the first time me and my husband had gone to chiang mai and boy did we select a great hotel. We had a free upgrade to a suite which was gob smackingly huge. But it was great. Checking in was smooth and a gentleman showed us to our room and gave a tour of the room. We had a jacuzzi bath with our own private water feature which was great. The ground of the hotel were lovely, we had a few of the river from our room as it was a corner suite. The balcony was huge. One down side is that there were a few mosquitos and so you couldnt go out on the balcony much at night. But we made full use of it during the day. The breakfast was great, a different selection everyday. Omellet was yummy and also the pancakes. The hotel was abit out of the way however they had a shuttle that took you to the night markets every night and you could get a tuk tuk back for 80-100thb which is cheap. The hotels pool was lovely and also the pool bar. very convienent. My husband used the gym which he said was quite large. Will definately go there again.

Room Tip: If you can go for a suite do it and also try for a corner room as you have more windows that makes t...

Stayed for 2 nights. The overall impression was that the hotel looked nice but the location was a bit hard to find even though we drove there. We got a suite (one bedroom, sitting room, and a dining room). The room was quite large and it was comfortable enough. The welcoming staff was good with explanation and introduction of the place of where everything is such as restaurants, fitness center and spa. Overall the room and the hotel was nice. The only major complaint was that (we didn't bring this up with management) the cleanliness of the room. We found that the towels were quite old as in ripped along the edges. The cleaning staff was not thorough in their cleaning. There were stains around the toilet. Glass stains on dining table were left there with dining mat covering them. Towels actually smell of not being washed even though we indicated new towels.
However the kids did enjoy the nice pool and my husband did enjoy the fitness center. So some things can be over looked. But for the price being charged there shouldn't be any fault. Finally Breakfast buffet selection was quite poor compared to others in similar class. We might or might not go back...

This is a beautiful hotel. Recommend getting a suite, it's not much more in cost and if you have a young child, they can sleep in the lounger room while you enjoy the master suite. Plus the dining room makes it easier to feed the kids.
It's alittle nit out of town, buts a quick tuk tuk ride for 100Baht gets you into town. You feel like an English traveller from 50 yrs ago when you stay here, beautiful surroundings, wide balconies, fantastic gardens. The attention to detail with water features, statues, timber etc is exceptional. Each feature represents a part of the hisptory, it's amazing. Totally recommend this hotel.

We stayed for 2 nights. Thursday night was fine, clam and quiet. But Friday night, too much noises and loud music came from no where to spot. You can hear it in your room, so we must turn on TV louder. Our room is clean and there is a LCD TV in the bathroom, but toilet bowl installed in dificult position to sit. My knee kept hitting the wall each time I use it. I don't know why they did that.

Chiangmai is a lovely city, I will definitely go back soon.

One thing the hostress did not explain me clearly. The complimentary drink voucher is only if you dine with the restaurant only, not a welcome drink. It was not explained when the voucher was presented. When we went to the restaurant, the waitress said I can use it at the bar. So I thought it was for a welcome drink, but it was not. It creates confusion. Reception should be clear about this voucher that you must dine to get the complimentary drink. The condition printing is too small.
