I have travelled in Thailand a lot. I have always found the service in Thai hotels to be very pleasant but a bit laid back. Ratilanna changed all that. The service we received was the most professional yet still friendly and welcoming we have experienced. The hotel is great the breakfast is great and the staff are simply fantastic. This is a must when you travel to Chaing Mai.

One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in. There was cool tea and warm towels for us on arrival. The staff was so friendly- the concierge especially. They were so accommodating- the concierge organized tours for us and made all of the arrangements. I recommend the Maesa elephant camp tour, and the tour to the Temple up in the hills. The guide that came was so friendly and informative. We also took a cooking class that was booked through the concierge, which I recommend. My friend and I had a private class and got to choose our own menus since we were actually the only 2 there that night. Back to the hotel- they gave us a tour upon arrival. The rooms were out of this world- there was a spa tub in the room with a tv, a balcony overlooking the pool (which is also very nice). The food from room service and at the pool were great. The breakfast was fantastic. I really don't have anything negative to say about this hotel. A week after being home I still can't forget it! I just wouldn't recommend the spa at the hotel- it's kind of expensive.

My husband & I stayed at this Resort for 3 nights. It is the most Beautiful Resort that we have ever stayed at. The room was Lovely & Spacious. BIG King size Bed, a bit hard but all Asian beds seem to be the same. Spa Bath with TV, large shower nozzle & good size shower. Balcony that had a day bed to relax on & table & chairs. The balcony overlooked the river. Very quiet to sleep at night. The restaurant had Great food & the Buffet Breakfast was to die for! We had a meal one night in the Brazilian Restaurant & the food was delicious! The staff were very friendly & couldn`t do enough for us. The Resort has a very large pool next to the river with a swim up bar. The whole experience of staying there from when we checked in was Wonderful. If ever we go back to Chiang Mai we would stay ther again! The Resort has their own shuttle bus to take you down town to the Markets every night at 6pm. We would highly recommend the Resort if staying in Chiang Mai...LOVED IT & was sad to leave such a Beautiful place...:):)...

Room Tip: All Rooms seem to overlook the River & pool...Our Room was on the 6th Floor & the Air Con wa...

In a few words: we stayed there 4 nights last year and 6 this year. It's really an excellent resort: staff is very friendly, pool is great and rooms very comfortable
Only cons:
- location is not perfect as you have to take a tuktuk to go to the city center. Yet, it gives you access to the river.
- limited choice at the breakfast compared to other 5-star hotels

Stayed 3 nights in Deluxe Room.

Whats Good

1. Very large bedroom with wifi access. Looks clean. Very large big bathroom with separate bath and shower.

2. Peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. This is a smallish hotel and for for those wanting some peace and quiet, this would be suitable.

3. General decor of hotel is good with wooden floors everywhere.

4. Friendly welcome from staff at reception and lady showing me to room.

5. Had room service one night and thai noodle curry was delicious.

Whats Not Good

1. At night seems like a ghost hotel. Bar almost deserted and totally lacks atmosphere with a guy playing Elvis songs on the piano. Not a great Thai evening experience.

2. Its a river setting but the river is underwhelming. Lot of the rooms at the side of the hotel look on to each other and you need to swivel your head to see some of the river from your balcony. At the front of my room when i go out into the corridor is a very shabby looking collection of derelict warehouses next door to the hotel.

3. Pool area has about 15 sun lounges which fill up quickly. Due to space no room to put other chairs round the pool. Get there early if u want a spot !

4. Gym is spacious and ok. Running machines old and need replaced. Hotel offers gym membership to locals so it can get busy in morning.

5. Breakfast Ok but food left open so small flies evident, especially on fruit.

6. Location not great. Need transport to the tourist areas.

All in all is Ok but I have stayed in far superior hotels for equivalent money in Thailand.

We are currently staying at Ratilanna Hotel at the moment for our second visit. From the minute we walked through the door the service and smiles never stop as per our visit 3 years ago. The hotel is about 5-10 minute ride from the Old City but not a problem as taxi and tuk tuk
are very inexpensive 100-120 baht. The hotel is on the Ping river and very luxe. The rooms are beautfully furnished and very large, comfortable and quiet. the bathroom is large with a fountain and television at the end of the bathtub. The pool area lounge is a delight to sit and have a few drinks looking over the river.

The food for breakfast is very fresh and a good variety every day. The staff are very friendly and helpful and cannot do enough for you, always with a smile. Ate night the bed is turned down with a Northern treat left for out enjoyment. We will be very sad to leave this wonderful hotel again, but it is the hotel we will always choose when staying in Chiang Mai.

We stayed for 4 nights and absolutely loved it. The staff were beautiful, friendly, very helpful and always had a warm smile. The breakfast each day had a great selection to choose from and was always fresh. We had lunch one day sitting overlooking the pool which was really relaxing. We were given a complimentary dinner which we used on a Friday night buffet. We never normally like buffet type meals but the food was beautiful. Our room was big and beautiful with spa. We have always said we wouldn't really go back to a place we'd visited because there are too many places in the world to see but after a couple of days at Ratilanna I was wanting to come back already.
