“not much value for the price”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 February 2013

We opted for the villa and weren't (considering the price) content with different details, particularly the bathroom was not well cleaned and the furniture in the room partly dusty and worn out. The pc didn't work and breakfast nothing special...
The location is ok, especially with sunday walking street beginning right in front of your door.

We were here 2 nights in November 2012 as part of a 3 weeks's trip in Thailand. Arrived here after a 3 nights stay at beautiful and quiet Bantak House in Bantak, small village 3 hours' drive South of Chiang Mai - and it was quite a "culture" shock coming to this big, noisy and busy city after the peace and quiet in Bantak.
The advantages of this hotel is most definitely the staff, and especially the receptionist Oh (actually from Bantak:) ). She was just great!! Funny, always laughing, friendly, helpful, serviceminded etc. The location is also great, very convenient. And the hotel garden and pool very beautiful, quiet and relaxing. And we had massage twice - and it was just great, very recommandable.
But the rooms! We had a superior room - had asked for "high up", but got on the ground floor! There were 3 holes in the walls, made by don't know who - the smell in the bath room was just awful!!! Have never experienced anything like it. The wood around the washbassin was rotten and falling apart. The wifi in the room didn't work (not a major problem). The walls so thin that you felt like staying with your neighbors or those on the floor above. One morning I was in the bathroom saying something to my husband and the man upstairs shouted to his wife: what did you say? Quite funny actually, but...
The breakfast... so so. Would have been nice if one could get eggs AND yogurth but you had to choose between The Healthy (yogurth and some fruit) and scrambled eggs/omelets with a few slices of bread + jam - and as far as I recall you could also get a cereal breakfast.
If you stay here, we think the villas would be much better. Or that is what we heard while staying there. We won't be staying here again - if we ever came here, it would just be to say hello to Oh and get a beer in the garden.

Room Tip: Take a villa or make sure to get a room high up

My wife and I stayed here for 6 nights in December 2012, and found it a wonderful first stop in Thailand. We stayed in a suite, which was really spacious, and great for us to spread out while staying for nearly a week. The swimming pool offered a huge relief from the heat on some days, and many travellers we met on various commented on how great it must be to have a pool. The food (we only had breakfast) was excellent, and the bar well stocked. The staff were excellent, and extremely helpful with any requests. We enjoyed chatting to them, and felt sad to leave after spending a great few days there. The hotel is also really well located, within easy walking distance to a number of markets and heaps of restaurants and cafes. I would give a 5 star if it wasn't for a bar next door which played loud music (only on one or 2 occasions in our 6 nights though), and for the fact that by Thai standards it is relatively costly. But we didn't feel hard done by with the price after we had left.

Room Tip: We didn't actually look at the standard room, so our review is based on the suite, which we woul...

We stayed in both the superior room and deluxe rooms over the span of four nights. I found the staff at Buri Gallery very helpful and warm people. Breakfast and the pool are lovely!

My only complaints are there are quite a few mosquitos (I guess not much can be done about this seeing as it the rooms are on lower levels) and the rooms are a little damp smelling. Both our showers had drainage problems that left us waddling in pools of water. Walls can be a little thin at night if you have noisy neighbours so bring earplugs!

In all, the staff and Lanna charm make up this warm guesthouse. Stay here if you don't mind a bit of grunge. You can walk across the street to the famous Wat Phra Singh and down the road to numerous relaxing massage parlours.

There is a beautiful spotted grey cat that hangs around the place.

What makes this guest house special- the location, the stuff, the grounds- EVERYTHING! They also have a nice swimming pool to cool off. But really, the best is, the staff- they will make everything possible. If you want to go to the backpacker party place- it is only max 10 min by bike or max 25 min by walk. Also there are some really nice upscale Restaurants and bars close by. You can rent bikes from a chinese shop very near ( Don't remember the name but ask the staff). Also don't hesitate to book a cooking course through the hotel- they have really fair prices and the course is really good!!!!!! Also trust their restaurant recommendations. The only thing is, if you got noisy neighbours, you will hear it, since the walls are not very thick. But i did not care- I loved my room- big, clean and very nice!!!!
I can only recommend this house if you come to Chiang Mai!

Stayed with family and friends in several deluxe rooms for a week.

++++
Excellent location near Wat Prha Singh
Small and intimate setting with garden
Small pool to cool off at the end of the day
Attractive price for room with breakfast

-----
Walls are paper thin, quite noisy
Very hard mattress giving back aches
Bathrooms have a very bad stench due to humidity and lack of ventilation (worst are the ground floor rooms)
Lots of mosquitoes at night.. need to keep windows shut
Taxi service proposed by hotel is a total ripoff (double the normal price).

If you're not budget restricted, better to pay more and stay elsewhere.
If staying at this hotel, better to choose the villa rooms (more expensive and more pleasant)

Room Tip: If staying at this hotel, better to choose the villa rooms (more expensive and more pleasant). Next...

This is a delightful oldish wooden small hotel right in the heart of old town - exactly where you want to be, minutes walk from the major interesting temples. Cute rooms, large beds, adequate bathrooms. I liked the essential oils and mossie coils burning all day in the corridors. There is a lovely small garden where a very large 'English' breakfast is served. A beautiful small pool to cool down after a day out and a pretty rear garden where the management welcome you to bring in your own drinks from the next door Seven Eleven for your sundowners. The wooden walls may be a tad thin, there is - to my knowledge no wifi in the rooms - but this is more than made up for every way. Oh and don't expect them to collect you off the Bangkok train as promised - instead you may be advised to take a taxi and the management will refund you the Baht150. Would definitely recommend this place.

Room Tip: At the moment there is construction work going on next door - so you may want to choose a room on an...
