“Good value for money”
Reviewed 21 March 2013

Stayed here six nights in March 2013. Based on previous reviews here we knew to expect thin walls so that was no surprise. We had a deluxe room in upper floor and were satisfied what we got for approx. 40 euros per night.

The size of the room was ok, shower worked, air-condition worked, breakfast was ok. Service was very friendly and the overall atmosphere was very satisfying - as well as the whole Chiang Mai. The location of the hotel is very good.

If there's one thing to complain, the pillows were too hard.

I really recommend to anybody who prefers some special local thai style, family type accomodation versus the big concrete hotels that can be found whereever you travel, with waveing crowds around.
The stuff was very nice and helpful. The pool with beautiful green surronding and sunshine welcomed us in a perfect way having arrived from the European winter.
The rooms (tried two) were clean and superb moody.
The price was not the cheapest compared to other accomodotaions we had along our trip, but we got great value.

The room prices are far too high for what you get. We got a room at the groundfloor. The bed was full of small beatles. All over the room we found spider webs and dust. The toilet was very stinky, especially in the morning.
The staff tried to solve the problems with little success.
We also tried to talk to the manager but he didn;t want to talk to us...
Try to avoid this location. For the money you can get far better accomodation in Chiang May.

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel in the beginning of February.
The hotel is very well located, in the center of the city. We chose a villa (V1) as we read that the rooms were not so nice, and we have to say that overall, the quality of our stay was good.
The room was very big and comfortable, same for the bathroom, even if the cleaning was not very satisfactory.
The internet connection worked very well in the rooms and in the common areas of the hotel.
The breakfast was very limited and absolutely in the average.
The staff was nice and they tried to accomodate our needs. By them we rented a scooter with a company they suggested, but the guys were absolutely unpleasant.
Nice swimming pool but small and not perfectly oriented.
The restaurant just in front of the hotel (I can't remember the name) was absolutely excellent: great Thai food, extremely low prices (100-150 Baht for two people for two plates and drinks).

Room Tip: Avoid ground floor rooms

The previous review from KateDahl50 of Denmark is the most accurate description yet of this shabby, overpriced facility in Chiang Mai. My wife and I stayed here before Xmas. I cannot believe that The Buri Gallery can charge the room rates that it does for totally substandard accommodation in what could easily become a fire trap for unwitting guests. If you were trapped in an upstairs room (as my wife and I were) and a fire broke out your life would be endangered because the Hotel is cluttered with old second hand junk masquerading as Lanna style timber furnishing and fittings and there are no proper fire escape exits. The walls in our room were so thin we could hear adjacent guests using their bathroom and toilet. It’s as if the walls and ceilings are made of raffia! We had virtually no room security whatsoever, the door and window locks were so antiquated that it would be a very simple exercise to break into guest rooms. This ‘hotel’ is simply not up to any acceptable standards. In fact, it would be lucky to rate two stars as a backpacker hostel. Our booking was for three nights but my wife and I were so disgusted with the standard of the Buri Gallery that we did not bother to unpack our bags, slept one night there in our clothes and checked out immediately the next morning. We will never stay here again and do not recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Expect backpacker standard
