“Best stay in Thailand!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2012

Fabulous stay at Rimping village. Only stayed here for 2 nights and wished we could stay for longer. Probably the best hotel we have stayed at, mainly down to the impeccable service from all the extremely friendly staff. The staff were also helpful in recommending activities and excursions, all of which were brilliant. Great breakfast too. Running out of superlatives to describe this hotel. If you are debating where to stay book this place now!

I had read the reviews of Rimping Village before booking. When we first arrived (family of four), I looked around and thought, "It's fine, but I'm not sure what everyone is raving about." Within the hour I knew. The hotel itself is nice, comfortable, and well designed. Nothing fancy, but everything that you need has been provided, and everything has been designed very thoughtfully. The restaurant was quite charming, and the food there was excellent. We loved the breakfasts. It was also really nice that so much was provided without extra charges; free wifi access in the rooms, bottled water and fruit provided daily, computers with printing capacity in the lobby. Even with all of this, what really sets this hotel apart is the incredible staff. They anticipated every need and hurried to try to meet it before you even had identified what it was. My friend and I wanted to go to the women's prison for a massage. We asked the front desk to call a tuk tuk. As we were getting into the tuk tuk, the woman at the desk came out to the driveway to let us know that, as it was the Queen's Birthday, the prison massages may not be available. She tried to call on our behalf, but couldn't find the phone number. She spent nearly 10 minutes searching around on the internet until she was eventually able to find the number to confirm that we would be able to get in. The next evening, our daugher was bitten by some kind of a bug and had a strange skin reaction to it. We asked at the desk if they had anything to put on it (they did - Tiger Balm). Later as we were heading up to our room, another staff member ran over, checked again to make sure our daughter was OK, and then apologized for the bite, as if somehow such a thing should not happen at their hotel. These are just a couple of examples of the kind of service orientation and sincere caring that are a hallmark of this hotel. A few days later we traveled south to Ko Samui. We stayed at a much more upscale resort, right on the beach. Despite the more luxurious setting, we still found ourselves wishing we were back at Rimping Village.

In terms of some of the nuts and bolts: The walk to the old city is about a mile. It's definitely walkable, but given the heat, for many travelers it probably will be better to ask the front desk to call a tuk tuk or a red truck. There are several self-service laundromats just around the corner from the hotel. Very cheap and efficient. I just did a couple of loads while we were at breakfast. These also appeared to be open fairly late in the evening. We stayed in the family suite which was perfect for four people. Plenty of space for everyone, and also a little sitting area. There are DVD players in the room, and you can rent DVDs for free from the front desk. It was a nice option for kids after a long day of sight seeing.

We (my girlfriend and I), stayed at Rimping Village hotel for 4 nights in August 2012 as part of an extended trip around Thailand. This hotel offered by far the best value for money of any of the hotels we stayed at. The service offered by the hotel staff, from the complementary pick-up at the airport right through until the complementary transfer back to the airport, was outstanding. No request was too much trouble for them. They helped us to book all of our day-trips and tours and offered excellent advice about the best ways to get around Chiangmai. The location of the hotel is perfect. It is just far enough outside of the city-centre, whilst still being a convenient 5 minute walk from most things. Our deluxe room on the first floor was clean, spacious, well-appointed and excellently serviced. In summary, if you are staying in Chiangmai, you shouldn't look past this hotel.

We booked this hotel after it got good reviews in TA. We stayed for 4 nights that were not adjoined. The staff was great and very helpful. We felt like family.
Every question we had they tried to answer. They called several car rental agencies for us to get the best price.

Room Tip: The suite is very large and comfortable

We had a lovely stay of 4 nights here. On the last night we had to shift rooms, my husband had hurt his leg and could not manage stairs too well so they upgraded us to another room. The staff were just so attentive, nothing was too much trouble for them. Lovely setting not too far to walk to town. Night markets good. Restaurant was also good.
