The location of Rimping Village is great and the rooms and grounds are very relaxing. The most outstanding feature of Rimping Village is the staff. The staff are outstanding. They go to lengths that I have never seen before even at a five star resort to make sure that you are taken care of. Just a couple of examples: we needed bus tickets to go to a spot in northern Thailand that the buses do not stop at, so the staff went to the bus station, explained what we needed, wrote out the specific directions in Thai for the driver, bought the tickets and delivered them to us the next morning; we also needed to check in at our next hotel early, so they called ahead, got us in early, and took us to the hotel in their own shuttle. We were just simply dumbfounded at how awesome (not a word I use often) the staff are. We wish we could have stayed our whole time in Chiang Mai at Rimping Village but they were fully booked for the rest of our time.
The only criticism I would have about Rimping Village is that they could try a little harder with the breakfast. More Thai food would be great and better coffee would be appreciated. However the above and beyond attitude of the staff more than makes up for this minor shortcoming.
