“Loved it!”
Reviewed 13 March 2014

I LOVED everything about my stay at Rimping Village.
The staff were amazing (nothing was ever too much trouble), the facilities were wonderful and clean, the breakfast was a delicious way to start the day and the location was fantastic.
I hope to come back again some day.

I had a wonderful first visit in December 2011 and the hotel was just as good the second time around.

Wonderfully friendly staff where nothing is too much trouble, delicious breakfasts relaxing by the pool, spacious rooms and so much more make Rimping Village my hotel of choice whenever I am visiting Chiang Mai.

Highly recommended. :-)

We were impressed from the minute we arrived in Chiang Mai when we were picked up by the complimentary transfer which was a luxury van which was a good start. Check in was efficient but the staff members were extremely friendly and gave us lots of useful information about getting around etc. We stayed in a deluxe room which was spacious and had a lovely feel to it. This feel extended to the hotel which extended throughout the hotel grounds. It truly was an oasis, and the pool area and restaurant were particularly lovely. The breakfast was great with lots of options. We also ate at lunch and dinner and the food was great. The location was good close to the river and Night a Bazaar but also walking distance to the Old City. We were definitely glad we chose not to stay in the Old City area. If you are considering staying here please do, some of the best staff I have ever encountered!

Just returned from Rimping Village and just wanted to say how good the place is. The hotel is well maintained and the room we had was quite spacious with a large bedroom and sitting area. The room had 2 large TVs, safe and fridge with mini bar. We had a wake up call at 5am every morning due to the neighbours cockerel which wasn't a problem with ear plugs but could be if a light sleeper. We didn't have a balcony to sit out on only a bench but we were near the stairs, I think this is why our room was so large, but this didn't bother us as so much to do in Chiang Mai you will be on the go.. The hotel is a 10 minute walk to one of the main market squares, across the iron bridge. We walked back most nights and felt safe but a tuk tuk didn't cost much and from the night market it was about 100 baht (yes I know we could haggle but chose not to).
The main reason for this review is to say how good the staff are, from the moment we arrived they couldn't do enough. We wanted to get the train back to Bangkok (sleeper), so the staff went off to the station to get tickets, unfortunately there was no first class available on either Thai or Japanese trains, but they went back again to check for any other class with no avail. The staff always ask how you are when passing reception, more so than any other hotel I have stopped in.
We went on a private trip with the hotel, it cost 1500 baht for a driver to take you anywhere you wanted. It was more expensive but we fancied a bit of luxury in a nice car with good air con, plenty of bottled water and no other tourists in the car. The driver A was lovely, really friendly and knowledgeable (I now know cat, dog and buffalo in Thai). When lunch came around he recommended Tiger Kingdom, we weren't that convinced, thought it would be expensive, when in fact it was the best bit of the day, as we sat on the terrace eating lunch (menu not buffet) watching the tigers in the public petting bit, amazing.
The hotel also gave us a better rate than Agoda who we had booked initially with, when we booked a 4th night with them and threw in a free taxi to the airport.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel even better if they serve up the cock for Sunday dinner.

Stayed here 3 nights during our tour of Chiangmai. Located just across the Ping River from the old city side of town this hotel is still within easy walking distance to the old city and night market. Or have reception call you a tuktuk, which would cost you no more than U$2-3 for a ride into most parts of town you would want to go. After a morning touring we would return to the hotel and cool off by their large pool, until early evening when it would be cool enough to go out again.

The "superior" room we were in was fine, comfortable with most amenities. I felt the decor and bathroom was getting a little dated and could do with a refresh. If this appears to be a minor qualification of this hotel on my part, let me just say that it is an observation, and in no way meant as a criticism. Anyhow, the customer service and friendliness of the hotel staff here exceeded expectations, which more than makes up for a slightly "faded" room decor.

Their buffet breakfast included with our room was excellent with more than adequate selection of western and asian style foods.

One simple example of the excellent and unobtrusive service experienced here was when one night I was sitting at one of their computer terminals, which is out of direct sight from the front desk. The doors were open for the evening and some mosquitoes started buzzing around me and I clapped a couple times at them. One of the staff from behind the counter came right over to offer me some insect repellant with a word or sign from me. We would stay here again.

They had the best customer service of our whole Thailand experience - and Thailand overall is awesome in this department.

The breakfast they include in your stay is very good. Nice patio area to eat in. Plus, not only is all the items on the buffet included but they will make eggs to your order or anything else you request. This is the nicest complimentary breakfast I have ever had anywhere.

They also have cute bicycles available to rent with baskets and everything. They have locks at the front desk you can use too.

We went during the lantern festival and they had a van to take you there and back which was nice. The location of the place is great too - not too far from the river where a lot of festivities occur. Nice riverside restaurants too with decent food and drink.

The staff were very very friendly at this hotel. They put a lot of extra care into their service by welcoming you in the taxi when you arrive and taking the time to explain the city and help you with any inquiries you had. They even called to organise a massage session for us and a pick up with a place that was 20 minutes away ( we had a buy one get one free voucher from the airport) and called our zip lining tour to reconfirm our booking as well as organised our tiger temple tour. The staff at the bar/restaurant were very polite and had the patience to spell how you said thank you in thai for us. The pool was great but is freezing most of the time because of it being shaded by the giant tree which is so beautiful to eat and sit under that I'd rather it be there. They do a great job of making it feel like a retreat away from the streets its surrounded by and offer bicycles for you to take for free at your leisure. Great walking distance to the night markets and some of the night life. Would definitely come here again. We stayed four nights from 04/02-08/02/2014.
