Can't fault our stay here, the rooms were lovely and spacious, the breakfasts and food in the evenings great and the staff very friendly and helpful. A little way from the centre of Chiang Mai, but if you like walking, not a problem, and plenty of transport around anyway. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed five days in a deluxe room overlooking the courtyard lush with greenery and orchids. Although it is located on a busy road just a few blocks east of the river and the night market, the rooms were really quiet. Good air conditioning, nice shower, nice firm bed, great local soaps and bath products. Breakfast is included and has a great selection of breads, fruits, cheese, cereals, eggs to order and juices. We ate at several restaurants in Chaing Mai and we still think the Shewe Wana has one of the best restaurants in the city. We would come back to the room midday to eat lunch there and rest before going to the night market. The staff were some of the nicest we've met in our travels. They were so helpful and attentive. There are 15 rooms surrounding a courtyard with a pool and then another 15 newer rooms close to another pool. If your budget allows go for the one or two bedroom rooms in this section - they are so roomy, beautifully decorated and look out to a private courtyard. We will definitely go back. We loved Chaing Mai and really loved Shewe Wana!

We had a wonderful experience at Shewe Wana. The hotel is wonderfully set among a very nice luscious landscape. The service is always impeccable with large smiles. Large healthy breakfast with several whole wheat breads, croissants and several fresh fruits and omelette if you wish. Our room was super spacious (suite) and very nice done. The ecological sensitive details add an extra to the niceness, like local shampoo in a ceramic container. I would go back many times.

We had an amazing time while staying at the Shewe Wana. The hotel is an oasis in the city. The shuttle to the night market is very helpful. The staff was wonderful and so kind with our children. We were in Chiang Mai for new Year's Eve. We had to return to the hotel before midnight to put the 5 year old to bed. The eight year old stayed up and while waiting for midnight, the security guards helped him light several floating lanterns from the courtyard.

The kids loved the pool and the mango pancakes for breakfast. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: If you are seeking 2 bedroom suite, request one on the ground floor that opens out onto the pool.

Great location. Most of all, a beautiful place - you step in from the main road, and you feel like you just stepped into a different world. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Pleasantly surprised by the breakfast selection - extensive menu for guests to order. Very nice bath products too.

Room Tip: Get the one bedroom suite - the price is only slightly higher than the deluxe room.

Chiang Mai is a bustling, cultural hive of activity. It's fun and frenetic, but after a long, hot day in the city, there's nothing better than being able to go back to Shewe Wana, which is exactly what the hotel's business card promises - a small forest in the city.

We stayed in one of the basic rooms, not one of the suites, and it was lovely. The quiet coolness, the lush greenery and the sound of running water made for the ideal sanctuary from the heat and noise of Chiang Mai.

Warm and helpful staff, free Wifi, complimentary tuk tuk shuttles to major attractions and a lovely breakfast selection are some of the reasons we'd recommend Shewe Wana. Little touches like the homemade, organic toiletries and the receptionist's willingess to help us print out our e-tickets for our flight made it even more special.

There are two swimming pools. Both are quite cold as they don't get much sun, but they're sparkling blue and well-maintained.

There's an onsite spa (expect to pay Western prices), coffee shop and restaurant, as well as a small bar and lounge area.

We highly recommend Shewe Wana and would definitely stay there again if we returned to Chiang Mai.

Transport to and from the airport provided by the hotel. The hotel and staff were perfect. Staff super friendly and go above and beyond what one would expect. We stayed in the one bedroom with jazucci. 112 meters. Large and quiet. Our price was about 60% of the other top ranked hotels in Chiang Mai that offer their basic room. Bargin! Bargin! Bargin!

We are planning to return to Chiang Mai and will definately stay here again!
