“Shewe Wana Resort Chiang Mai”

We stayed in this resort (unit 14) for 8 nights. We couldn't have picked a nicer resort.
The unit was clean and tidy, large shower, comforable twin beds, good TV, bar fridge and well serviced daily.
The restaurant was tops providing good local food as well as a good variety of wines. The breakfast menu gave you a good chaoice of food to keep you going during the day
We both experienced the spa treatment which we recommend at least once.
The gardens were very well kept and the pool was maintained daily.
Now to the staff - the reception staff are all multi skilled handling the reception, waitressing and looking after the bar. They were also good at giving advice (?) places to go,things to see etc. Overall we had a very joyous stay here and would definately stay again. Neil from Coffs Harbour, Australia

Room Tip: They have upstairs and floor levels - up to your liking. There is also some suite type accommadatio...

My girlfriend, my daughter, and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights during a recent whirlwind tour of Thailand...it was our 4th hotel in two weeks, and it was truly fabulous. In fact, I rarely write reviews of hotels, but this one was so terrific that I felt compelled to share our experience.

So really, what is it about this hotel that is compelling me to gush? First, let me say that the location is great given that it just a short walk away from the Chiang Mai night market, but if you don't feel like walking no worries...they will provide transportation. But even though the hotel is in the heart of the city, once inside the gate you feel like you have been transported to a tranquil garden...it is quiet (except for the chirping of the birds), and lush, and delightfully charming. Someone really put some thought into the design of this hotel, because everywhere you look or turn there is something delightful to indulge the senses.

The team that mans the desk speak excellent English, were super sweet, and willing to help in whatever way they could. But what really made this hotel special were the rooms and grounds. Charming doesn't even come close to capturing how spectacular this little place is. The rooms were large, immaculate, gorgeously appointed (really folks, the pictures don't even come close to doing this place justice), and brimming with delightful touches. Many of the rooms have daybeds and balconies or porches which open up onto delightful gardens (ours had a lovely coy pond) where one could while away an entire afternoon (I wish I had left time to do this!).

Other amenities include two beautiful pools, a fabulous western breakfast buffet (made-to-order omlets, waffles, and homemade jams), an Asian breakfast room (we never partook of this), and a spa. Oh, and let me recommend the spa: gorgeous, professional, and oh so relaxing.

Folks, if you are considering this hotel vs. a fancy 5-star hotel, pick this one. It has all the amenities of the bigger name brands plus charm and personal touches. I promise, you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: My girlfriend had the one-bedroom suite and my daughter and I had the 2 bedroom suite...both were hu...

The stuff here went of their way to make us feel comfortable. Very friendly. Lovely decorated gardens. The suites are nice, just a bit dark but you can hang at one of the pools during the day. Nice breakfast with fresh fruit and pancakes.

I'm attracted by its slogan 'small forest in the city' while considering booking a hotel in Chiang Mai. The lush green and warm hospitality of the staff has made myself and my parents very impressed.

The suite room we stayed in are charming albeit its rather simple and naturalist decors. The breakfast is simple but good enough for my parents who appreciate more Chinese/Asian choices. Besides regular western items like bread & butter, they also serve steamed dim sum, noodle and porridge. From the menu you can also order different types of ommlets, fried egges, bacon, ham and saussages...so overall there is a cosy home feel.

Some minor problems to watch on: 1) the sofa in the living room seems to have a dirty cover; 2) Aircon is quite noisy which disturbed our sleep; 3) when your downstairs neighbours are a big group of youngsters, the noise they made can reach your room in mid-night. 4) And there are doves making noise in early morning too...but if you take it positively, it's part of the forest charm.

Room Tip: It's outside the old town and off the ping river. a tuk-tuk takes you into the old town at 100 t...

The hotel itself is really nice and very tropical. The location is good too, walking distance or short tuktuk ride to restaurants, night market and temples. The rooms are spacious with nice terrace, but dark, especially the rooms on the ground floors. The furniture is dark too, which means that you need to have the lights on all day. Breakfast is super, great eggs and cappuccinos all included in price. The coffee shop is really sweet with great coffee and food. The bar is next to the reception (indoors) and not cozy, too small and far away from rooms. The swimming pools are ok, but small. The spa is nothing special and very expensive, they charge 50 usd for a massage which is 5 times the price as elsewhere. The service is a bit slow (especially in the coffee shop), but friendly. The staff at the reception was good, they gave us good suggestions for restaurants etc.

Room Tip: the rooms on ground level are very dark, so better choice a room on first or second level.

We stayed in one of their standard rooms, not a suite, that overlooked the smaller of the two swimming pools. The surrounding gardens were beautiful and one couldn't help feeling that more thought had gone into the gardens than the rooms. We looked at several similar rooms on the second floor and all were pretty much the same - quite small and bland with a generic 'guesthouse' feel.

The decor was unimaginative and ruined by far too many ugly signs - two large 'no smoking' signs that wouldn't have looked out of place in a government office - both superfluous as the whole resort is no smoking. The office feel was continued thanks to an ugly old clock which, apart from a TV with dodgy reception was the only thing adorning the wall opposite the bed. It had a very a loud tick - removed battery on day one.

As other reviewers have said, the staff were all charming and helpful but, without wishing to detract, this is pretty much the default setting in Thailand.

Breakfasts were all good and the general feel of the place is very serene and tranquil - apart from one day when the swimming pool was invaded by three badly behaved American kids that the staff seemed too embarrassed to deal with.

I suspect that the suites offer a more luxurious experience albeit at a higher price.

Overall a convenient and peaceful location let down by some rooms that need a serious facelift.

Great location, fastest wifi we have ever experienced anywhere!!
Wonderful, helpful and efficient staff. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Shower and bath products were fabulous. Only complaint was the mattress was a little too hard.
