What an amazing place for elephant lovers! We booked the morning tour, 0730-1530 hotel pickup/drop off. Highly recommended,if you followed the email instructions from your booking, you’ll be fine. The traditional outfits, lunch and attention of the trainers were touches that made the experience more dear. Lots of time with the elephants, education about their care, and interactive time made this an invaluable experience we will always treasure.

This conservation focuses on reproductive health and repopulation, as such they have a number of infant elephants that are super cute and friendly. They owners speak fluent English and do an excellent job in the presentation before the time you spend with the elephants. They do so many creative things to help the nursing mother and baby elephants to bond with each other and to see that nurturing in person is quite an incredible experience. A MUST SEE!

They seem to really care about their elephants, which appear to be healthy and content. We spent a half a day there. They teach basic elephant health assessment and explain in detail elephant conservation. You then greet and hand feed your elephant and walk it down to the river to bathe it, play with it and swim with it. All activities are natural to the elephant. No elephant painting here!

Booked 10 months in advance due to amazing reviews and ecotourism approach. transportation was punctual from hotel and we arrived and spent about 45 minutes to an hour as a group hang out with a bunch of elephants including two adorable babies. One incident that somewhat rubbed me the wrong way is when a baby decided to run in an opposite direction and the workers grabbed a stray dog and put him on the elephants backside in order to scare him to go back the other direction. and then they all laughed about it hysterically. I didn’t witness any other issues afterwards but not a great way to start. actual interaction with the elephants was extraordinary and they do seem to care very much about the welfare of these animals. The free professional photos they provide are fantastic.

A word of caution, the ride on the elephants in the mountain side can be treacherous. at one point I couldn’t believe I was on the top of an elephant going down a steep muddy wet hill. my nine-year-old and 12-year-old were also doing the ride for most of the ride I couldn’t see them so I just had to pray and hope they did OK. My trainer was a bit more disinterested than other trainers. but that didn’t change the experience. For those complaining about getting in a pool of water with poop in it it’s really not that bad in fact it’s refreshing and cool waterfall and come on it’s elephant poop what did you expect at an elephant park? for the experience I thought the pricing was totally reasonable. you get a freshly cleaned tunic top and riding pants as well to put in over your clothes.

in a nutshell, I wouldn’t second-guess choosing this experience if you’re coming to Chiang Mai. my kids and husband loved it as did I and other than the little hook up at the beginning the animals seem very loved & protected. professional photos included are a huge bonus and high quality.
