Reviewed 11 February 2011

Very tranquil, but super close to the busy night market. The pool is beautiful and the hotel is very green. We stayed for four nights and loved the location and the staff. The bartender was super nice and also had a smile.

Very convenient boutique hotel, 200 meters from night Bazaar. Large room with all amenities, silent air-conditionning! Impeccable service (laundry returned in less than 24 hours). Breakfast by the pool, amongst flowers and trees.

we stayed 5 nights at this perfect little hide away close to the city center of chiang mai . perfect staff , fantastic rooms and superbe bathrooms with transparant glass walls to to room .
Free internet. 24/24 available.
We enjoyed every minute in this quiet and relax hotel , located in green surroudings. And yet so close to the city center .
Only a few chairs around the swimming pool and pool from 15.OO pm in the shade , which could be the only minus points to mention .
But all in all : Close to perfection !

We just came back from Chiang Mai and were VERY pleased with our experience at BanThai Village.

The Room - We got upgraded to a Junior Suite (THANK YOU!!) - it was bigger than our honeymoon room! The soak tub was perfect after an elephant trek. The rain shower always had enough hot/cold water to go round... The bed was super comfortable & the decor was very cool (lots of teak). The AC was awesome on the hot mornings & the flat screen TV was a luxury we've rarely seen in Thailand. There was a room safe, slippers, robes & everything you'd expect from an upscale place like this -

The Service - from the start we were welcomed with open arms. We were there during Loi Krathong festival & were impressed how the staff got into the spirit. Floating lanterns in the pool, a complimentary 'float' in our room, lobby songs & decor - Great Job BanThai! Breakfast was delicious - eaten outside with mellow music playing (usually Brazilan jazz/samba) - There were great strong coffee, 3-4 fruits, juice, toasts, eggs, sausage, bacon, etc.- in addition to local/Asian specialties (rice, soup, etc) We always left full and satisfied. Compliments to the breakfast waitress...she was always there with a smile and a coffee refill - thanks!

Location - PERFECT - it is down a small quiet street halfway between the old city and night market - wouldn't change a thing!

Overall, we would undoubtedly stay here again if (WHEN) we return to Thailand-

Thanks again for making our stay special - Krapkoonkrup!

This hotel was really good. The rooms are really clean and the bathrooms are fab. There was water features and thai music playing all day. The location is great for chiang mai - really close to the bars and night market and the tha pae gate area. The only draw back is that scooters use a road-path through the hotel as a short cut and this can be noisy if your room is on that side of the road and is potentially dangerous and this pathway is between some bedrooms and the main hotel reception and pool area.

Nice place to stay and liked the Lana style, but a little overpriced for what it was. Pretty rooms but beds not so comfy. Awful shower which alternated from burning hot to cold. Staff were pleasant but very distant. Had a complaint but didn't feel heard and understood. Internet included but often did not work.

Ban thai is a nice quiet place to stay. I really liked the location as I like to be close to the night bazaar. the proximity to Thapae road is also handy as we also like to dine across the river and the walk there was no probs for us. there was no really details map of the roads around the hotel and this would have been handy when coming back late at night after having a couple. Could not really say anything bad about the place. Wireless is available which was handy. Nice touch was the insense burner that was lit every night in the room with mozzie repellant.

Travel tip : If possible walk back to the hotel via Thapae road.....it is a lot easier to find. Be ware of the dogs around the area at night...they can scare the crap out of you (they dont attack, just bark)

Pro - Good size room (had a jnr. suite) A bit different to the normal decor.
Con - Hard to find when coming off Loi Krah road. Back entrance is closed after 9:00pm (it is easier to get into the hotel this way)Safe was too small for a laptop.
