Be careful at the building construction and the noise. The location is ok near the night bazar.services and quality ok but the prices seems exagerate.no real views even from the horizon club.the concierge can provide good services.

This hotel has one of the best location in Chiang Mai. Very close to Night Bazaar and restaurants area. 10 mins walk to good bars area.
The service was nice, but its a big hotel, definitely not like a boutique hotel where you can feel very touched. Food was good, breakfast was nice. However, I would recommend to eat out as much as possible as there're so many GOOD restaurants out there, close by.

Good hotel with large and beautiful gardens. What surprised us are their breakfast! With so many choices and cater for chinese and japanese taste as well as western. Have not tried the swimming pool but it looks great.

I have stayed six times at this hotel, the most recent time being in July 14. The reason I return is the excellent value for money the hotel offers. Indeed, the rooms are very comfortable, the pool area a perfect spot to rest and the breakfast buffet has all you can wish for. There is also an international buffet in the evening if, like me, after a couple of weeks of delicious Thai food - you feel like having something else for a change. The quality of the food is very good. All staff is very friendly and professional.

PS: Chiang Mai is an area with quite some elephants. Please do not go for elephant trekking or elephant shows / elephant painting. Kindly make an educated choice of activities and contribute to responsible tourism. You can learn more on elemotion.org (I have no link with this organisation, but I am passionate about defending the Asian elephant) and on www.saveelephant.org. The latter has a true elephant sanctuary right outside Chiang Mai that you can visit. There are many so-called sanctuaries, but this one is a real one. Thank you.

Room Tip: A room with view on the pool/garden is great.

We picked this hotel because we know it has the largest swimming pool amongst all the hotels in Chinag Mai, and it did meet our expectation.
The hotel service, breaskfast, is as expected like its usual reputation, i.e. good. But since it is not new hotel, the room, the whole environment is really like traditional Thai style structure focusing on brown wooden colour which won't give you much surprise. You should not pick this hotel if you like modern and new design.
Beside, it is close to night market, if you want to pick a hotel close to night market, it is another reason for you to stay here although Le Meridian is just at the center of night market (i.e. even closer)
For the spa, I think it is good but I didn't try as there is another good spa center just nearby (Peak Spa or Let's Relax) and they are much cheaper (50% of what you will be charged in Shangri La), so, a obvious choice.
Another transportation trip, don't pick tuk tuk in front of the hotel, they charge you more. Just pick one on the street. Normal charge range from 100 to 150 Baht for tuk tuk, 200 for taxi.

The hotel is made by it's perfection in execution and the cheerful and helpful staff. Personally it was a bit cavernous and I am not a great fan of buffets every night, however my teenage daughters loved it and the chef made special pizzas just for them. The pool and spa and superb. My only reservations are two : there is a drink deal with dinner but the table service for drinks is very slow it isn't very good value and the execution of the rooms is dated but not tired. It was a good deal and is well located.

Room Tip: Pool view was great. The children had a large room with a lounge area which allowed for an extra bed...
