Oriental Siam Resort

The Oriental Siam Resort is probably one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. This is mainly because it doesn't feel like a hotel, but rather like a heavenly retreat, staffed by your family and friends. There are so many wonderful aspects of the resort, but the stand out feature is definitely the unparalleled hospitality and effort of the staff. Pongsri, Top, Poi and Mr. Pom truly made us feel like superstars to the point that we were very disappointed when we had to depart and felt we would truly miss them. They were the most helpful and accommodating people I have ever encountered in the hotel industry. My fiancee and I were on a mission to find a special piece of furniture in Chiang Mai and the hotel driver, Mr. Pom, went out of his way to take us around to various places, acting as both our chauffeur, translator, negotiator and tour guide. Without his help we never would have succeeded in finding what we were looking for. Pongsri and Top made excellent suggestions for our itineraries from what to do to where to eat and made arrangements for us to get to and from all of our activities. Even just sitting at the bar and having a conversation with Poi and Top was lovely. We really felt welcomed. The other features of the hotel that left an impression include the lush and beautiful gardens that are well maintained, the excellent breakfast, the clean and spacious rooms, the bicycles that you can borrow and ride around the village, the neighbouring temple, and the peace and quiet!

Some visitors may find the location is too far out of the city centre for their tastes. However, I personally wanted to be away from the hustle and bustle of the markets at night so we were grateful to come back to some tranquility. The distance is only a 20 minute drive, which is actually really fun in a tuk-tuk as long as the driver knows where he is going. Be sure to have a map and the name and address of the hotel written in Thai. Our drivers got lost every time, but that was just part of the adventure! Alternatively you can just pay a little more to have the hotel driver pick you up at any time.

There are also no meals there except breakfast. But honestly, if you are coming to Chiang Mai, why would you ever want to eat at a hotel? The markets are so full of cheap, fresh and delicious food. There are also restaurants nearby.

Thank you to everyone at the Oriental Siam...we will be back again some day! We loved it :)

Pongsri, Pieter, Topp, Nat and the OSR team how can we even begin to thank you for such an amazing few days. After being collected by Topp at Chiang Mai Airport we were driven to the most outstanding accommodation in the whole of Thailand!!! Nothing was too much trouble, we felt like we were the most important people in the world. Our privacy respected yet at a moments notice a friendly smile and attentive staff were on hand to help with anything. Beautiful, peaceful surroundings make the Oriental Siam an outstanding resort, it is indeed Paradise, an oasis of tranquility and the only place in Chiang Mai you should consider. We stayed in the Jasmine Honeymoon Suite, with fresh flowers on our bed each evening and around our bath, fresh fruit appearing from no-where when we were at the pool. Topp on hand to drive us anywhere we wished to go, with suggestions of places to see and things to do. Amazing, amazing place. Thank you Pieter, Pongsri and all your wonderful staff for a fantastic few days in Paradise. Lest we forget Hero, the cutest pup and Pieter's new best friend!

We wanted a peace and quiet place to catch up on our sleep and relax without the hassel. We found it at the Oriental Siam Resort. It is one of the nicest small resort that we ever stayed in Asia. It is place where you can escape and find peace and quiet for a few days. In this review, I will get to the point by outlining the excellent aspects but will also point out one constructive criticism, so this resort will even better than it is now.
Excellent aspects: 1. hand down--the staff and the owners are the warm and friendly people who are the best ambassdors of Thailand---Thai Smiles. They will do what it takes to make you feel at home and confortable. The people reminded us why we love Thailand so much 2. The garden was like a paradise. There were several days where we spent our day time sitting in the garden justing enjoying life and just breath! 3. The room was very clean and spacious. We do love seeing flowers in our terrance and bed every night! 4. It is a bargain! You get much more than what you paid for. It is "relative cheap" for the service and the size of the room. I have one constructive critism. The breakfast was decent. However, I would have liked to have an option of having a simple Thai breakfast because we are not coming to Thailand to have croissants which we did not eat but some guests would like this. I would also like to have more fresh seaonal fruits from the market because fruits are fairly cheap. I would also not serve pre-made fruit juice. We are in Asia and there are always seaonal fruits.even fresh watermellon juice can be refreshing. Fresh pressed juice would add an extra touch to the breakfast. I would also improve on the tea selection. Overall, we love this place and we would highly recommend it. This will be the only place for us in Chiang Mai. We are looking forward to coming back to the resorts for many years to come!

We have just checked out of the Oriental Siam Resort, having spent a wonderful 5 days there. I very rarely write reviews (have only written one on Trip Advisor before) but I wanted to express how much we enjoyed staying here. Nothing was too much trouble, the staff are really lovely and every small detail is well thought out. We especially loved the tranquility and the gardens - we have been to Thailand many times now and it usually takes us a couple of days to adjust to the time difference, recover from the flight etc, but we felt really at home much more quickly this time and this is largely due to the resort and the wonderful people working there. Yes, it is out of town but only 15-20 minutes away and personally I would rather stay somewhere as lovely as this. We would like to say a big thank you to Pongsri, Peter, Pom and all the staff for our relaxing stay, the delicious breakfasts, the flowers on our bed at night, the information on the area, the suggestions of where to go and what to visit and lending us the bikes :-) we hope very much to see you next year. Adam and Helen.

I have little to add to other reviews other than you would find it difficult to find somewhere that is such a haven away from the usual bustle. We left the pool for 5 minutes and when we returned there was water and a bag of water melon. The attention to detail and the genuine wish to make your stay really special is second to none. The resort was designed and built by the current owners who can be seen tending to the stunning, meandering gardens every day. It was a short, cheap, taxi ride to town and an excellent spot for visiting the sites.

The reviews written here are pretty spot on. Huge, well-maintained villas. Gorgeous garden and pool area. Fabulous breakfast. Even though hotel was fully booked when we were there, it seemed as if you were alone.

The hotel IS A LONG way outside of the city (at least 30 min), so if you are only staying in Chiangmai 2 nights, this hotel is NOT the right option for you.
