Stayed at this hotel with my girlfriend for 5 nights. The resort is beautiful, rooms were spotless, breakfast was awesome, and I can't say enough about the hosts. They treated us like family.

Stayed here for a few days to recover from a bad case of food poisoning. We were extremely well looked after and staff went out of their way to help us. The food at the small restaurant beside the pond was delicious and all freshly cooked. Breakfast was really good and the waiter was very helpful. The resort was so relaxing. Rooms were very clean and comfortable, best nights sleep I've had in a while!

We stayed at Oriental Siam Resort for our the second part of our honeymoon in February. For the first four days we had stayed in Chiang Mai's old town, but wanted somewhere quieter for the second half.

We both loved the hotel, and the only downside is literally how far away it is from everything. I knew that it was on the outskirts of Chiang Mai, but I hadn't realised that there was nothing in the the vicinity. This isn't really a problem as there is always a car on hand to take you wherever you need to go and to take you back again (for a price of course, but it's not too expensive), however I prefer to walk to dinner and various attractions and this just isn't possible here.

The resort is small and very charming. The owners Pongsri & Peter - as well as Nat and everyone at the resort - go out of their way to make you feel welcome and like one of the family. Every day we found Peter in the resort garden, with his dog, Hero close at his heels. I've never seen a person put so much effort into a garden!

The breakfasts were lovely, sitting on the little restaurant deck overlooking the pond, and stir fried pork dish (lunch) is to die for. My husband really enjoyed their coffee, and it apparently provided an excellent kick-start to the day.

Our room (Jasmine Villa), was very spacious with an enormous bathroom, dressing room, and two decks, including one private deck with a small table and chairs that was not overlooked by anyone else. On our return to the hotel in the evenings, our bed would be turned down with rose petals, and various other touches for our honeymoon.

We both had a lovely stay, and would definitely recommend the resort as long as you don't mind being a bit out of the way. If you're looking for peace, quiet and relaxation then Oriental Siam is just the ticket !

Exactly what others travelers have said, service is amazing.

Rooms are good but not great, breakfast is goodish, location is so so....

Everything can be forgotten but not the level of care and family like feel to the place.

Highly advise others just for the experience and you will not regret it.

The resort itself is compact, the gardens, lily pond and pool are beautiful. All accommodations are very spacious, immaculately clean and tastefully furnished. There is a real feeling of serenity and everyone is very welcoming. My 15 year old son was told by Peter on arrival to treat the place as his home and that is exactly how we were all made to feel. There is a well air conditioned fully equipped gym with free weights which I used every day and a lovely computer room with two laptops which was extremely handy. There are also dvd players in all accommodations and they have 100s of dvds of all kinds to freely borrow. What made the holiday for us were the waiters, especially Top and Nook, they were genuinely caring but also had a wonderful sense of humour. If I could have brought Top home in my suitcase I would have.If anyone has the good fortune to stay here, would you please tell Top & nook that Anita,Danny & Luke miss them both so much. The breakfasts were fantastic,The poached eggs came in the shape of hearts and almost every day a new delicacy arrived to try,the nicest being the warm creamy coconut in plantain leaves. The cooked breakfasts were set out as in a 5 star restaurant and if there were ever any language misunderstandings we all laughed them off together. There was only one inconvenience and that was that the evening menu, although very tasty was extremely limited and there were no other decent restaurants in the immediate area, but that is all.On our second week we stayed in Chiang mai itself at the tamarind village which although very pleasant and a great location, it just really lacked the spacious rooms, the genuine warmth and overall feeling of peace that we had in the oriental siam & it was over twice the price. If you are coming to Chiang Mai do yourselves a favour and stay here, even if it is for a part of your trip, I wish we were there now! Oh and before I forget, if you only do one thing in Chiang Mai go & see the white temple even if you go as part of a day tour, it is like no other temple you will ever see, a totally mindblowing experience.

We spent 5 days in this lovely place, organized by a management couple (Thai / Dutch), where Madame is leading the staff of non-professional but very exerted and extremly sympthetic family members and Peter who is caring affectionately about the wonderful tropical garden.
Immediately you feel part of the peaceful family life, although everybody respects your privacy. As there are 5 roomy and elegant bungalow suites with private terrace and big bathroom offered only (be aware of the extremly hard mattresses) you can seperate easily but on the other hand get in private contact interesting people at the small pool in the garden center.
The absolutely cute restaurant (5 tables + small bar infront of of the gardens natural pond) serves excellent Thai food - not to cheap but valuable. Breakfast is served from menue - take your time for that and do not get unpatient. All the staff is willing to make you happy at their best.
For outside lunch or dinner ask the family for recommendations about the original Thai restaurants and cookingshops close to the resort. All of them serve typical, more delicious and much cheaper food than the well known restaurant at the riverside, etc.
If you want to escape the average tourist stream avoid the trips offered in the "brochure", but if you like to run 'the program' you are in best hand and you will not find it more individual nor much cheaper + the resorts driver are really taking care about you personally.
Be aware that personal transport (drivers / taxi / tuk-tuk) are more expensive than in Bangkok. A trip down town Chiang Mai (approx. 4 km) will cost you about 200 Bath one way. If you use Tuk-Tuk or similar, do not forget the plastic room key (resorts address on its back) and remember the way. Only few drivers will find the way back to the resort on their own.
If you are interested in handycraft as Thai silk, silverware or Chinese traditional umbrellas ask for but insist on visiting the native preferred places, which are located in the surrounding of the resort. It is worth it.
A free transport back to the airport finalizes an absolutely relaxing stay in one the cleanest cities of Thailand.

Returned to this resort because of previous fantastic experience. Don't normally go to same place twice but knew that we could relax with 5 star service throughout our stay. We were not disappointed.
The team all arrived to meet us as if we were their long lost family and made us feel welcome into their "house". Pongsri runs the resort like clockwork and nothing is too much trouble. She is well supported by her team and everyone is wanting to ensure your stay is first class.
All trips arranged, all taxis, restaurant recommendations etc. seen to with no fuss.
We did the cooking lesson, golden triangle (Thailand/Burma/Laos) trip and flight of the gibbons and had a great experience, all arranged from the resort. In addition Pongsri and Peter personally drove us to the local silk/furniture/umbrella crafting places where you are not put under any pressure to buy but shown how products are manufactured.
Ate out mostly but breakfast was substantial every morning and the times we had lunch and dinner there the food was exceptional with great personal service.
Pool area is small but at no time was there more than the two of us there so it also felt personal. Complimentary drinks were served by the pool to keep us cool which was a nice touch.
We stayed in the jasmine villa which was spacious with a main bedroom a separate dressing room and a large bathroom. There is also a front and rear terrace for sitting out which is private and well equipped for sitting around during rainy periods or for late evening.
The bar is open on a help yourself basis and mark up honesty sheet when there is no-one on duty but that is seldom the case as looking after people is the resorts number one priority.
On a previous review I marked down for location but once you are inside the resort you could be anywhere as it is so peaceful. The centre of town is only a 10 minute drive and there is always someone there to give a lift.
Prices for rooms and food/drink/minibar are all exceptionally reasonable and a fair selection also.
If you are looking for a relaxing chillout holiday and want to fit in the sights as well, you will not find a more hospitable place in Chiang Mai or probably the whole of Thailand. You will definately feel part of the family.
