“Nice room, but owner dazed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 September 2012

The suit was nice and spacious. However, the owner appeared to be dazed with her mind somewhere else. She was smiling and polite, but she would not really try to help. When we asked her about things - i.e. locations of hot springs - which she did not know, she would not ask around or try to find it for us; instead, she would just say "I don't know" and that was it. Even our Thai guide who came to pick us up at the hotel was puzzled by her attitude: When the guide asked for us, the owner just stared back blankly at the guide. Only on the last day, she seemed to perk up and tried to be more helpful by arranging the hotel car to drive us to the bus terminal.

The staff was good. Since we preferred to have fruits for breakfast, they got us a lot of fruits (probably not expecting that we would eat them all!). But they neglected to clean the shower stall and we had to ask.

This hotel is the most incredible place I have ever stayed! The food is so good that you don't want to eat anywhere else, the service, the friendliness of the owners, the location is convenient too!

We booked this area not knowing what to think (since it is a small location), but took tripadvisor's advice on the matter. We couldn't be more pleased with our decision. The owners of the hotel, are so incredibly helpful (the husband) picking us up from the airport and Mai (the wife) giving us a Thai cooking class, taking us around on the bike and to a Thai market. When you arrive at the hotel you are greeted with refreshments and Mai helps you plan your trip in Chiang Mai. There are bikes on the property guest can use to tour the city and Mai physically took us around on a bike ride some could get our bearings in the city. Mai is a very well know Thai chef in northern Thailand so take her cooking class! The rooms are very quiet, secluded and very well maintained to give you a ton of privacy.

And now to the best part, the staff. Mai and the staff could not be any more attentive and polite. Their attention to detail is unbelievable. Every time we step out of our room, someone is physically running to meet us (not an exaggeration). They are constantly waiting on your every request, making you feel like royalty. Even this morning when there was a rainstorm they left (so as not to dosturb me and my wife) two umbrellas outside of our room so that we wouldn't get wet in the 25 yard walk to breakfast...The complimentary breakfast is ridiculus! Get the traditional chicken!
Amazing food and even better experience. We literally ate at the resturaunt for almost every meal ! Couldn't imagine staying anywhere else in Chiang Mai.

We stayed at Ruen Come In mid august for our Honeymoon. When you first drive in, you're shocked that such a lovely place exists in residential Chiang Mai.

Mai, her husband and the staff are incredibly helpful. They'll sit down with you and help you plan your stay in Chiang Mai. One time she took my husband and I to a local noodle store to have their famous Khao Soi and satay.

Also one morning, we were feeling a tad sick after a long day before, Mai gave us herbal tea packets to drink for our sore throats and lozengers for our coughs. I also recommend doing the cooking class there as well, Mai will take you to the market to buy the ingredients and then will teach you how to cook. We ended up cooking so much food we only got through half of it and had to have the rest for dinner.

I will definitely recommend Ruen Come In to stay, they were so caring and attentive it was unlike any other hotel we've been to.

In mid-May we stayed 3 nights and were joined by our friends who stayed for 2; being at Ruen Come In made us wish we could spend longer. Located outside central Chiang Mai we found opting for cheap and easy taxi ride (choose truck over tuk-tuk, set price before boarding- ~150 Bhat/person, and bring a map or card from Ruen Come In to direct the driver) was less hot and treacherous than going by bike (which they will loan you if you're up for adventure). They will drive you to town for small fee. This hotel is a wonderful oasis, the rooms are immaculate and beautiful, the food divine, and the atmosphere relaxing and welcoming. The breakfasts were great-try the traditional Chiang Mai with chicken. Mai and her husband, as well as the staff make you feel at home. Mai arranged our zip line tour and as no cooking class worked with our schedule Mai held a cooking class for us; we chose the menu of 6 recipes and accompanied Mai to the market to buy the ingredients and show us the market (amazing). The food was authentic, abundant and tasty. Being at Ruen Come In was a highlight of our Thailand trip and we would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a more authentic serene stay in Chiang Mai.

My GF and I stayed at Rue come in from 10 -12 Feb. The owners May and her husband made us feel at home right from the minute we arrived. They made sure i wasnt sitting idle while wating for my friends to arrive later that evening. Mays husband offered me the spare bicycle and rode with me to help familiarise with the neighbourhood! They also helped plan our itinerary for the next two days. Invited us to a very local dance performance which was spectacular. The hotel is also a labour of love, built as residence and then converted into a guest house. Completely made in teak and absolutely warm and comfortable. All and all one of the best short stays we have ever had. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Suite on first floor with a private Jacuzzi is absolutely stunning!

I Still strongly recommend you stay here.. Beautiful clean rooms, great food and the most welcoming helpful staff you could ask for.. They have their own driver there who is more than happy to take you anywhere you request at an honest price and any requests you have they will go out of their way to try and supply you with your wishes.. Organise any tour you'd like and I recommend that you go to the hot springs with them, you feel great after it.. Any aches and pains will be gone, relaxing and therapeutic just wonderful.. The owners of this motel really make you feel special, welcome and relaxed....

Room Tip: All the rooms are beautiful

We were glad we were flexible, and for the efforts Mai, the owner, went to, to fit us in. Ruen Come In is an amazing place to visit, for as long as you can. The rooms are beautiful, the complementary breakfast offers something for everyone, and the restaurant is the perfect place to experience the best of Thai, and specifically, Northern Thai food specialties. We ate 12 dinners there and loved every bite. To the chef and wait staff, thank you, you helped make our stay so memorable. To Mai, you are and amazing innkeeper, every perfect detail in the rooms and restaurant show your touch, and we really appreciated it. Thanks too for your guidance around Chang Mai and beyond.
tip 1, Keep a Ruen Come In business card with you, as Chang Mai has a very large metro area and it will assist the driver in your return.
tip 2, Use the red pickups as a primary means of getting around Chang Mai. They are unique and reasonabally priced. tip 3, If you have an itinary of what you want to do and see, run it by Mai, she is a valuable resource in both planning and making your plans come true.

Room Tip: upgrade to a suite if you can.
