Great location and as you expect in the service industry friendly staff. So what went wrong?
First of all the shower. It did not work properly, the hand held would not stay in position & the ceiling rose was pathetic. Soap dispenser did not work, picked it up to get it to work & it slipped out of my hand smashing on the shower floor. Told the front desk & they wanted to charge us 300B for the breakage. Told them it was defective & if it worked properly in the first instance then I would have had no need to pick it up to try to get it working. Had to fill in a form to say what happened. Anyway they did not ask for payment after this.
Restaurant: Tried to eat at their TAWA bistro one night. Ordered a small Leo beer & a black russian. They tried to deliver our drinks to the wrong table & then when they realised they brought them to us. Not Leo beer but Chang. So easy to get it wrong or so easy to get it right.
Ordered 2 entrees and guess what; they tried to deliver them to the wrong table again. Second try we got them. We got what we ordered & the Chaing Mai sausage was nice. The spicy pork salad was missing some ingredients their menu said it contained. Anyway this was enough so we did not order a main, paid the bill and went elsewhere.
On the day we were leaving I ordered a taxi. Yes a taxi not a hotel car. Got to check out and they presented me with a bill for the hotel car to the airport. Double the cost of a taxi but still low cost in Thailand. I asked them what was going on and that I had ordered a taxi not a hotel car. Once again a simple mistake. Paid them the money got in the car & we are at the airport writing this.
As a said nice hotel but room for improvement on the service side.

De Naga was a wonderful hotel in a perfect location. The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly, the hotel was clean and well-designed, the buffet breakfast was delicious, and the whole hotel had a calming, relaxing vibe. Was extremely impressed and would recommend to anyone!

We chose the De Naga at Chiang Mai because of its close proximity to the old city and it was perfect. From the moment we walked up the stairs to the hotel foyer we knew we were on a winner, the staff greeted us warmly and our room on the first floor was very good indeed. I would suggest choosing the 1st floor which overlooks a serene courtyard with water cascading into a pond, some of the rooms are located close to the pool and outdoor bar area so would suggest ask for a room away from this busy area. The room spacious and very clean, the staff excellent and obliging in everyway, the breakfast yummy and can be taken inside or on the small balcony. A small pool but intimate and inviting. Would highly recommend.

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the pool area preferably first floor.

A little diamond just off the street that circles the square inner city of Chiang Mai. The northern Lanna style is evident throughout the property and adds to the charm we are accustomed to in Thailand. Breakfast was excellent and included my favourite Bircher Musli; as well as organic marmalade, great bread, eggs, juice and you name it.

The hotel bar and snack outlet is close to the street and really nice. It's open to late and just the right place to sit with a drink and a cigar whilst seeing the world pass by. On the other corner, the hotel cafe and cake shop. Delicious.

At De Naga you are within easy reach and walking distance to shops, cafe, restaurants, bars, and entertainment.

very cute hotel, nice architecture, big rooms, huge bathrooms and delicious breakfast !
the location if perfect (right next to the walking markets) but yet very quiet and with a real exclusive feel.
We were upgraded to a bigger room upon arrival, very nice and discreet staff.
airport shuttle is good and cheap too. Just don't book your day trips or excursions with their travel agent, they are ridiculously expensive !

Room Tip: the only downfall was the stiffness of the mattress, so you may wanna ask for a soft bed. ask for a...

Stayed here for two separate nights, a week apart, and both times had a pleasant stay. The location was perfect, walking distance to restaurants and exploring the old city etc. My only complaint, as with many hotels in Thailand, is that the beds are too firm! Oh, and the breakfast chef sometimes goes AWOL, but once you find him or her then the food is good.

A nice and small hotel in the old city of Chang Mai. Rooms are well furnished, clean and one feels instantly at home. People are friendly and eager to help.
Breakfast is quite good, although choice and variety of food is limited, but of good quality and taste.
Do not expect a pool for swimming, it is more a large bathtub to cool off during a hot day.
Air condition is noisy - too noisy to keep it running during nighttime. So it is getting warm in the room in the night.
