“A master class in style, service and stunning scenery.”
Reviewed 29 April 2012

Conrad, Koh Samui is a master class in style, service and stunning scenery. The management are wonderful, the staff excellent - the food selection was from the simple to the sensational, fresh and top quality. This experience is a one off. We chatted to another couple who're at the end of a 4 month world tour. They said this place came top from all the other venues they'd visited. Nothing is too much trouble. The famous Thai hospitality shone through and the location is breath taking. A sincere thank you for making this holiday a memory to be treasured for a lifetime.

My wife and I have just returned from our 14 night honeymoon in the Conrad Hilton Koh Samui, where we enjoyed two fantastic weeks, of pure relaxation in the most spectacular surroundings, while enjoying some of the most attentive and personal service we have ever received in any hotel, from an extremely professional but still friendly hotel team. The food was exceptional, whether served in one of the three top class restaurants, or delivered to the room (In Villa Dining). We have previously stayed in several other Conrad Hilton property’s, but the attention to detail shown by all the Koh Samui staff was the best.
We strongly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants a complete break away from it all to relax, in luxury surroundings. We enjoyed the whole experience so much that we have already rebooked to spend our first anniversary at this hotel.

Room Tip: All one bedroom villas have excellent views, and are equally luxurious.

I hesitated for a long time if I should really give the Conrad Koh Samui only four instead of five points. On the one hand it feels kind of snobbish or presumptuous to deny such an amazing resort, such an amazing location, such superb villas the high score. On the other hand the obvious letdowns must not be overlooked.

Let's put it this way: The hotel doesn't utilize its full potential (and there's a lot of potential) and doesn't shy away from some of the rip-offs luxury hotels sometimes seemingly can't do without.

We stayed for three nights which were the last days of a three-week trip through south eastern Asia. So we had seen a lot before we came to the Conrad and had developed a good feeling for the prices that prevail. And this is the main category in which the Conrad simply overdraws and wastes a high score rating. After having paid some 700 USD per night (breakfast not including) for this remote resort, management seems to see you rather as a hostage than as a guest. I wouldn't complain if prices were twice or even three times as high as in the rest of Koh Samui. But imagine paying some 10 USD for a small bottle of Singha beer at the restaurant. Not Becks or Sam Adams -- the local stuff you can buy for less than a buck at a local SevenEleven. That's just a rip-off.

We only ate once at the Zest restaurant. We both had a Thai curry that was more expensive at home and less tasty than at most of the simply food joints in Chaweng. Afterwards we ate at the nearby Five Island Restaurant: if you give them a call they pick you up (500 THB back and forth).

Also service was not hiccup-free. As this is the middle of nowhere I asked for a car to take us to the airport on the day of our departure (early flight). The guy who checked us in noted all the details of our flight and gave me the impression he would take care of things. Luckily, I asked on the night of our departure to find out that NOTHING had been arranged and they had to fix airport transfer for us overnight.

OK. Enough for the complaints.

The resort as such fantastic. We stayed at on of the 2xx villas and fully agree with fellow travellers that they are the best choice, offering good views but still close enough to the restaurants. The villas are spacious, have their own pools (which actually deserve to be called that because you can swim in them), offer the latest in in-room entertainment, have wonderfullly comfy beds and the biggest bathroom I've ever seen in a hotel room.

Enjoying the sunset from our pool while sipping on a glass a chilled white wine (courtesy of the management due to my HHonors Diamond status) way a truly memorable experience. We hardly left the villa during the day, just lay be our pool, read a book and had a drink.

The Conrad Koh Samui is unique and a place worth staying for two or three nights. But I regret to say that it did not fully meet our expectations.

We just finished an six night stay here and I can honestly say I have not had a more relaxing vacation. This resort is not the best on island if you are looking to see much of Koh Samui. If, however, you are looking for a much needed restful vacation this spot is perfect. The villas are perfectly appointed and there is nothing better than stepping out your door and jumping into your own very private pool.

The best part of the resort is the staff. They are very attentive to your needs and so genuinely nice. We spent many hours talking to the staff and learning about life in Thailand.

This is very much a 5 star resort and the prices are what you would expect from drinks to food. There are a few options available. We worked with the concierge to set up transportation to Element for dinner and again for a massage at one of the best spas on Koh Samui. We also booked transportation through the hotel for trips into other areas. While the prices were expensive by Thailand standards, they were no more than one would pay in the US and the travel was probably safer than using a local taxi.

Overall the experience was wonderful and so very relaxing.

+ Breakfast was good. We enjoyed very much the wide variety offer of fruit juices. The morning view at Zest is fantastic.
+ People are nice and always with smiles.
+ We stayed in room 205, wonderful view of the five islands, beautiful sunset, and one morning we even saw rainbow.
+ Not so crowd, this is something we liked.
+ must rent a car, the hotel is located in a remote place and if you wish to explore the town and other restaurants, a retail car is a must. It is easy to rent a car at the airport, cheap. And it is easy to drive in Koh Samui.

We will go again, and stay for a longer time next time!

people who choose this hotel will not regret.

p.s. restaurants outside the hotel, we recommend:
+ Green Ta"lay (for dinner, nice Thai food near by)
+ The Cliff (for lunch, good western food and nice view)

Arriving at this hotel you know you are in for a treat as it is situated at the very top of one of the Koh Samui hills. This can be an advantage or disadvantage depending on your situation! If you are the partying type it may not be the place for you however if you are looking for some rest and relaxation with a bit of romance thrown in - it is the perfect destination and perhaps needless to say it feels isolated and wonderfully exclusive from the rest of the island. For us it was the latter. however a 2 night stay was long enough with no beach to take long walks along, so we felt a little captive.
The villas are well appointed and spacious and of course each one has its own infinity pool looking out to the many smaller islands, facing west, the sunset views are amazing from everywhere, be it your own private deck, the main pool deck, Zest restaurant or the glow bar. Club cars are available (at the touch of the phone) from everywhere to take you from place to place as the paths and roads between restaurants, villas and the beach are unbelievably steep! Fortunately we were staying about half way down the hill and chose to walk but a level of small fitness is needed. Naturally all the villas are air conditioned but ceiling fans have also installed which is a bonus and the hotel is environmentally conscious suggesting the A/C be run at slightly higher temps than the usual over air conditioned places in many Asian cities. Water conservation is also considered with the frequency of linen changes. We thought a major omission has been in collecting solar power - with the individual villas all facing west panels could have been installed in the roof tops and we wondered why this wasn't done when power outages are an issue on Koh Samui. This is one area where northern Thailand has done well with feeding power back into the grid.
The food in the various restaurants was very good but not outstanding as there were a few misses like tabouleh with very little parsley and tzatziki with very little yogurt. Unfortunately, the breakfast cappuccinos weren't brilliant, they looked great but were very weak and only just warm. We did ask for strong and hot but the delivery isn't quite there yet. Some good barista training would be worthwhile as even the espressos were hit and miss. Great poolside burgers are available with terrific handcut chips and naturally the thai food is delicious. The wine lists provide an interesting international variety, something for everyone.
Overall impressions are good and for a short stay this resort has a luxurious feel with the most spectacular outlook so worth the trip.

Room Tip: Lower villas are closer to the water and less distance to walk to the main pool deck and Azure. Mid...

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights at the beginning of April. We rented a car at the airport in Koh Sumai and drove to Conrad ourselves. We arrived at reception and from the minute we stepped out of the car we were taken care of. They quickly pulled our bags from the car and sent them to our room and our car was swept off to parking. While all of this was happening we were greeted with cool tea and a wonderful smelling cool cloth, all while taking in the view. Our entire visit was perfect and the hotel staff did everything they could to make sure we were taken care of. We walked down to the pool and breakfast many times, calling the buggy to take us back up. The floating pier is great to spend time on and the beach was clean with white sand. It is amazing how the staff are always present when you need something, but you never feel like they are hovering.
If you plan on leaving the resort at all we definitely recommend renting a car. Driving was not a hassle and it allowed us to get out and drive the entire island. After visiting the touristy beaches we were even more pleased with our selection of the Conrad. The beach in the town at the bottom of the mountain was our favorite and the few restaurants that are down there are worth a visit.
We have stayed in Hilton properties all over the world and this resort, with the combination of the view, villa rooms and service has to be one of the top.

Room Tip: Rooms in the low three hundreds seems to be the best location if you want to walk anywhere.
