“Great service and a perfect day trip from Samui”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 October 2013

We booked a tour with Petcherat based on a recommendation from our resort when 180 Degrees East was full. That said, I'm really glad we did! We ended up on a tour with only 6 others, which resulted in an even smaller and personal tour than we would have gotten elsewhere.

The 3 guides were great at adjusting the tours itinerary to stay away from the other crowds. We did the typical activities: snorkeling, kayaking, lunch, and beach time, but we managed to feel like the only people in the Marine Park for most of the day.

I would highly recommend them for the small group tours.

“Great Snorkeling Adventure- Koh Tao, koh Nangyuan”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 September 2013

We booked a snorkeling adventure through our hotel (Le Meridien) and they put us in touch with Petcherat.

Although Pethcherat was one of the pricier options spending the extra money on this trip was a good move in the end. The speed boat they use gets you from Koh Samui to Koh Tao in a little over an hour. In addition the small group size is a big plus, as some of the tours with larger groups make you fell like cattle.

- Fast trip Koh Nangyuan and Koh Tao,
- Three seperate snorkeling spots on the tour,
- Incredible snorkeling,
- Get to see Koh Nangyuan, which for me was the best part of the tour due the natural beauty,
- Guides speak excellent English, and we're very helpful and fun.

- If you're looking to visit Koh Tao this trip is strictly snorkeling so you should look for a different trip.
- Again, this is a snorkeling trip so there wasnt't a lot of beach time.
- Only two hours in Koh Nangyuan. Due to the beauty of this place I wish the tour had left early so that we could have more time to spend on the island.

Overal a great tour. Tips to note 100 baht entrance fee to Koh Nangyuan and 150 baht for beech chairs. Can take your belongings and leave them on the beach as the tour guide will watch over them.

“Absolutely amazing day - private charter unbelievable”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2013 via mobile

My wife and I took a private charter to Anthong and every aspect was amazing. First, through our hotel, we were able to map out a schedule that worked for how we wanted to spend our day, clearly with input from them on what was best. That was key.

They picked us up in a BMW and drove us to the marina. There we had a I glass of water and they made sure we packed all of the essentials - sun screen, sea sickness meds, bread for fish, etc - and then we were off 5 minutes later. We had a captain and a tour guide with us.

The first stop was snorkeling and I have no experience in this area so I can't comment on the quality of the coral (I do believe Koh Tao is better if snorkeling is focus - it wasn't for us). Our boat stoped around the otherside of the island so we didn't have to deal with masses of other people / tours being referenced. That was key. On top of that, our guide was in the water with us the entire time showing us the best stuff to see and even taking us in a cave no one else went into -it was cool. Also, I'm not a good swimmer so he would always makes sure I was comfortable, which was nice. Moving on from there, we went to see Emerald Lake. Our guide went with us up to top and showed us the way to all of the viewing area and took pictures for us the entire time. He even lent us money (we left ours on the boat stupidly) so we could buy drinks.

We then went to another island to kayak and swim on a private beach (no one else was there at the same time). He took our camera so he could take more photos which turned out awesome -it was a leap of faith to let him take our camera in a kayak but we trusted him by then. We kayaked under and around rocks at the base of the island, something there is no way you could do with a group - a few places only a couple of kayaks would fit.

Then we went and had lunch at this nice restaurant on the water in a fishing village on another island. Honestly we would have been hesitant to go to a place like this on our own but the food was great. Our guide got us all set up and then we could stay and relax as long as we wanted. When we were ready to leave we asked to vary our plan a little and they were fine with that and we want to the big island to climb the trail to the viewpoints. Our guide led the way and took even more photos. This a real climb - not a lazy trail - but the views are totally worth it!

This was just an amazing day in Anthong, made possible in large part due to our guide. I realize the private charter is much more expensive than joining a group (actually, for a family probably not that much) but the old saying of 'you get what you pay for' applies. Our guide was great at pointing out facts and explaining things to us. His English was perfect but certainly good enough to make his points. I don't have any experience with other private charters but Petcherat went out of their way to make out day great and I would highly recommend this trip with them!

“If you want to snorkel in luxury, go to the Maldives”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 February 2013

Snorkeling day trip by speedboat - we took the most "luxurious" of the trips, which mind you wasn't cheap, recommended by the hotel (Vana Belle) concierge, picking us up at the Petcherat Marina. Apart from the quality of the reefs and variety of fish which was great as well as the lovely staff on the speedboat, everything else was poor. The island where they took us (it was the furthest one, an hour and a half away, as they said it was the best place for snorkeling) was packed with groups of people, you could hardly move, the toilets filthy at both places they took us. The food at lunch was terrible. The whole place stunk of animals and smelly toilet. There were no towels provided on board either. After our request we stopped at a more secluded spot with beautiful corals and fish, and that was the best bit. However, staying at a 6-star hotel, this is not the kind of boat trip you expect. I recommend that they team up with someone who can provide a luxury experience trip for their guests. For now I recommend you stay in your luxury hotel where you get pampered and just swim in the sandy sea. Or if you want to a truly great all-round snorkeling experience go to the Maldives where the reefs are incredible and they really know how to provide luxury facilities for snorkelers too, at better prices.
